While I’m sorry for all the members who will miss out tonight but I’m wrapt that the club is getting to the point that we are having sell out games at the G.

Thats because we're undefeated

Im future when the Tiges play in a blockbuster just wait until halftime and u will be able to get free entry and your pick of the best seats in the house.

How lucky r u guys that missed out.

well done to everyone who said there would be limited standing room available when the gates open, you where bang on the money.

i got down there at 5pm, waltzed in with my 11 game membership when the gates opened at 5:30, just scanned my card and was in as per any home and away match. at the 20 minute mark of the first quarter i scanned the crowd for a vacant seat in the bay of my choice ( figuring if the seat was still vacant by then the person who'd payed for it probably wasn't coming ) and was all set up to enjoy the match. pity that bit didn't work out....

dunce hats to all those who where oh-so-sure that there would be absolutely no admission for members without reserved seating. if you don't know the facts maybe keep your mouths shut rather than spreading incorrect information...

When the club itself is disseminating the following incorrect information via the Jungle Beat email...

The match has been declared a sellout and will be broadcast live on Network 10.

Patrons are not permitted into the venue unless they have pre-purchased a reserved seat.

...it makes it tough to know what to do.

A mate phoned the MCC on Wednesday morning and was told there would be limited walk-up standing room available to club members (which made sense since a) Ticketek had not released standing room tickets for sale and b) there is capacity for 5000 standing room patrons). Why this information is shrouded in secrecy and *smile* is beyond me.

If the AFL pushes a game to an 'all ticketed game", effectively canning the walk up person, should the member not be able to nomiante for a ticket (at no extra cost) since the AFL is already aware that the particular person could be going?
...
To those who are worried about members who dont turn up to games, maybe they could instigate something similiar to the Dockers and Eagles whereby members can advise the club up to a week/fortnight before a match that they cant make it to the game, so then the club onsells the 'seat'. The member gets some money off their next membership and the club gains an administration fee/revenue?

It would certainly be within Ticketek's capacity to provide an online facility for reserving a seat/standing room entry (for a small fee) via the barcode number on your membership card. If you reserved a spot and didn't attend, you could be barred from reserving a spot next time/for the rest of the season.

Such a facility would be a much-appreciated convenience to club members and make membership more attractive, but would of course eat into profits from the double-dipping that is currently taking place.

Leysy had a seperate seated ticket for entry but thought he'd give his 11 game membership a run to get in as he was only going to stand.

This is at 7.30pm as the Tigers were running out.

Sure enough in he gets near on kickoff. Funny thing is leysy knew it would work. No-one had sold any GA standing all week.

So after all the hullaballoo anyone member could have rocked up anytime & got in. Debacle. But some like LTRTR knew it was.

I rocked up at 5.20 got in at 5.32 with my 11 game membership without a reserved seat

Had 2 hours to kill so went up to the top deck of the Olympic stand and spoke to a suit. He told us to come back at the end of the 1st qtr and he'll find us some seats.

He also said that they had 20,000 standing room capacity around the ground.

I was 50/50 in not rocking up… I wish I didn't

God the MCG shoot themselves in the foot. This whole thing has just been proved to be ridiculous.
