What did we do to Paul Roos?

To be fair this is junk time.
Need to carry this form into the start of next year before we start earning respect.

True Oldie, but winning form is better than losing form, unless your tanking, and he needs to just at least acknowledge that.

His inference that we were a bye for the Swans was just an insult, especially since we beat them.

Paul Roos has great credibility. His opinions have merrit. Take the emotion out of it. Unlike the rest of the media, Roos doesnt jump on and off teams.], his views remain consistent even if a team looses a few in a row or wins a few in a row. Thats what I like about him. He is consistent. It was only a month ago that the media as a whole thought we just werent going to make it, now with a few wins it is all bright again... I mean really?...

Agree. Nothing wrong with his views on Richmond. It is his pro Swans and "Rossy" Saints that irks.

Agree on both counts.

Fully agree about not giving a stuff what he says about the Tiges. We all know we need to improve to earn respect from the football world. Many don't want to see the beast awaken, because they fear what lurks in the Jungle. They know that when the Tiger awakes no one will be safe and they can't bear the thought of a rampaging Tiger and the massive Tiger Army is mobilised.

Its just his Swans bias that I don't like too. Yeah they won a premiership in his time etc, but at the moment they have a way to go as well. They have a few deficiencies as well, but he refuses to acknowledge that.

No doubt he has a good knowledge of the game and has a lot of insight into clubs and the operations of club environments, but he needs to impart that knowledge rather than bleat on about the Swans continuously. They spent considerable time talking about the Swans last night.

Agree that the show is too Sydneycentric normally.

But cant blame them last night. If Richmond had just beaten Geelong at Kardinia Park to break a 29 home ground game winning run you would expect a lot of Richmond talk as well. Huge win in the circumstances that deserved big coverage.

As Roosy said we still arent winning meaningful games, that's fair enough & fully correct.

Leysy also doesnt buy the scared or snaky people in the media about us. Simple fact is we have been an easy target. A few late season wins isnt going to change that perception.

Roosy isnt scared or snaky he simply doesnt rate us because he rates defensive play ahead of attack, & our defensive structures, setup & mindset are still very very poor. Nothing more than that ILO.

Before Sunday's win we had lost 13 of 15 against Adelaide. That's some bogey team - right up there with Geelong (who have been a bogey for most other clubs, admittedly).

Yeah, we beat them last year at the MCG and with 'basketball crap' at the then Telstra Dome back in the Wallet days...

I think the last time we beat them in Adelaide was the famous rant by Blight against Pittmen when he publicly called him hopeless after the game .

Wallet still classifies himself as the hero in that pathetic game. I must've broken the record of yawning during a Richmond game.

Issue with Roos is not his opinions as such but the way they’re expressed. Backhanded & dismissive rather than constructive. On a hiding to nothing as had we dropped those games the RFC would have been labelled a rabble . As for meaningless wins , all 3 beaten teams had more riding on the outcomes than the RFC so certainly wasn’t meaningless to them..

Unfortunately Roos has history on his side but hopefully continued improvement in the next couple of years can help shake this perception.

I just heard what Roos said about the Melbourne game. It didn’t sound outrageous, pointing out that Tuck loses his opponent is hardly breaking news.

You bag Roos for saying the truth.
When Richmond stops bending over in games when the season is on the line eg Gold Coast, Port Adelaide and when we played Melbourne the first time
then you will start seeing respect.
Remember that game, 61,000 turned up except for the pea hearts on the field!!!
Maybe Richmond needs a coach like Roos instead of one that pats himself on the back for winning junk time games. And not someone who was outfoxed by Guy McKenna and Matty Primus!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That Pathetic Pittman game was at the MCG.

We beat them in 1998 and 1999 at Football Park...one of the games was when Blight left the box early and walked around the boundary line to the rooms before the game had finished. The other was a win in the wet where the Giesch ran onto the gound and the players sang the song in the rain. I think the Singing in the Rain game was the last time we won there....

Don't worry about dribbler, he's been here a long time and is mildly amusing on occasion.

Yeah Dribbler just likes to vent his spleen on here when the caravan sales drop. He's a good salesman. ;D
