What Do The Tigers Need ??

1. Justin Leppitch-type versatile rebounding CHB
2. Chris Judd-type match winning on-ball goal kicking super star
3. Might as well pick up a Kerr-type, tough run all day, contested marking superstar while we are fantisizing
4. Giant strong, super tough, intimidating, bag of goal kicking CHF, something like J.Brown.

I reckon we've got the core of fast rebounding running footsray model players (Deledio, Polo, Tambling, Myer, Jon, Raines). Probably got the small forwards we need (Pettifer/Brown/Krak/Tambling). Got the ruckmen too.

Lets go TOUGH, Goal kicking midfielders and CHF/CHB. Easy, probably 4 of 'em doing the beep test in Canberra as I write, just pick 'em and stick the Y&B on 'em! :o.

Lots and lots of supporters getting behind them. Never under estimate the force of the Tiger Army.

not many of them around phantom, our best bet is brett deledio. In the modern game they are called game busting midfielders

Ha!!
I laugh at the efficiency, or lack thereof, of the modern day language.

You say 'game busting midfielder'.

I say 'Centre'. ;)

I read all the different rumors going around but what does everyone think we need ?

22 all round skillful, gutsy, versatile players, that can bring the premiership cup home. It's been a long time between drinks.

The priority is

4 more genuine a class quality midfielders that can be used as utilities up back and down forward as well as have a run through the midfield.

everything else will look after itself.

PS

Phantom. What is a centreman? And could you please name one in the afl at the moment?

It's a subject that I could write a chapter of a book on, but I'll keep it to a paragraph.

First, I'll look at the great Centres - Ian Stewart, Michael Voss, Geoff Raines.
A player that can dominate the area between the 2 x 50 metre arcs, both in the air & on the ground. Combination of a rover, ruckrover, wingman & ruckman.
Qualities:
1. To run & accumulate possessions all day.
2. To excel at both 1st possies & clearances at stoppages.
3. To breakaway from packs with explosive speed.
4. To take competitive marks overhead.
5. To accurately pass the ball, long & short, with both sides, hand & feet.
6. To kick midfield goals.
That's enough.
In today's footy, generally around 183-185cm.

To me, a real Centre & CHF, are the 2 hardest positions on the ground to play, and to fill.

PS: I've seen the young boy Gibbs, amongst his peers he has all that.

In other words a Centreman = "Bustling" Billy Barrot and "Magical" Maurice Rioli

As said:

1. A premiership centreman.
2. A couple of classy kpps, and
3. A decent knock ruckman.

That is the old Allan Jeans theory.

"Footy is a simple game, son.  Your ruckman hits the ball to your rover and he kicks it to your full-forward.  He kicks the goal.  The only other thing you need is a decent full back to stop their full-forward.

Simple!"

Fitness, fitness, hardness, and fitness and then some. After watching the Weegs in the GF, it was their fitness + excellent footy skills + lashings of self-belief that got them over the edge. Take note Tiges - games are won in FOUR hard quarters of footy. Get yer heads around that and the good times will roll. I can feel it in me waters.
