PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

We are all well aware that our backline lacks a couple of big men. GM will likely try and make a play for one if not two ready-made key defenders during trade week.

But there is another area of concern...our midfield.

Even with Cogs in there, the Richmond midfield is at most a B grade midfield. I don't think we will ever be able to challenge for a premiership with our current stock. We have quality ruckmen supplying them so what do we do?

Do we

a) Try and trade for another ready-made midfielder?

or do we

b) Continue to draft, hope that we can get a few quality midfielders and hope that our current youngsters can improve enough to reach the level that is required. If we do this though, how far are we off having a quality midfield?

Personally, whilst I do the Meyer will be a good player, I think GM should have taken Brent Moloney as part of the Ottens deal.

I also think this is a key area where we are lacking due to Danny Frawleys obsession with drafting a crumbing forward.
