What is 'good enough' for season '07' ?

Barring serious injuries - should be looking top 4. Finals minimum requirement.

Far too early to predict.....we have no idea what type of draw we will have, what players will be gone, what players will come in, what players will get injured during pre-season games, how the players we have out injured now can recover in time to make any type of impact for 2007....there are just too many questions still to be able to give an honest opinion of what we should achieve in 2007.

100 percent right. Plus I would also factor in how the competition is shaping. People can say 'finals' until the cows come home, but for example if the present top eight interstate teams remain powers, and Footscray and St Kilda get back their injured players, and Melbourne stays on track, there is going to be precious little room available in the top 8. Collingwood would probably still be in the mix and Brisbane and Geelong and perhaps even Hawthorn or Port Adelaide might be presenting strong challenges for a 8th spot. For Richmond to play finals next year might well depend as much on the fortune or misfortune of other clubs as anything we do ourselves. You'll need to know realistically how they are looking before setting a bench mark (apart from the obvious cliche public pronouncements that we aim to play finals - what club doesn't say that?) as to what is acceptable and what isn't.

Continued improvement and development of the young players on our list

Competitve in all matches, no more big losses.

Continual turnover of the playing list.

No more major injuries to the players, as we have not had a stable forward structure for the last 2 years.

No more HOME games at the Dome, the MCG is our home ground.

On-Field-Need to make finals, play two, win at least one of these, continue development of the second tier players, and add to them from the drafts. Find a solid defensive KPP, and nurture Richo's replacement.

Off-Field-Trade profitably again, and reduce debt, improve football department, including full time scouts in all states to recruit the future leaders of the club.

Let's not kid ourselves.

We have a young list who are still learning.

We do not have a lot of depth to cover injuries.

We haven't played finals since 2001, only Richo, Gas and Chubba (i think!) played in our 3 finals then. (2 thrashings at the hands of the scum and lions)

If we finish 5-8 I will be wrapped. Winning a final would be a bonus.

But we need to serve our apprenticeship in the top 8 and get a taste of what it is all about.

...and don't (conveniently) forget the win over Carlton! ;)

there is a five year plan for a reason and it aint just to make up the numbers in the top 8...i swear some people are living in a bygone era, this aint the 70's and RFC dont rule the jungle...

for gods sake can we get over 2006?

i imagine there will calls for Wallaces head if we dont make the 8....as the merry go round cranks up again...perhaps let the kids develop instead of putting unreal expectations on such young shoulders.

Exactly.

You only need to read some of the insane garbage people have written about Bling.....the bloke is into his 2nd year, after having an interrupted 1st year, he's only 19 or sp...and already they are banging on about "we should have gotten Franklin"...boohoo, boohoo...its pathetic! >:(

Getting it right in the Nov. draft...That is only acceptable.

Spot on Skills - we MUST get this year right for us to really make our move over the next few years. IT IS IMPERATIVE

Agree. Terry's "graph" must continue to show improvement.

It's not rocket science eh!. Need a list with 3000 games experience to be premiers based on recent history, finals appearances will get us up near there by 2009.

stole my thunder. for our graph to continue in an upward direction as tw would put it, a top 8 finish is our next step (barring a bad run with injury or keeping tivendale on the list).

I'm hoping we can push for a top 8 birth, with so many good youngsters coming through we can definately do it. It all comes down to player depth though.

An improved win-loss ratio for 07 and i'll be happy!

Totally agree, we still need to keep rebuilding our current list just to be competitive, let alone thinking of finals. It wouldn't worry me if we miss next year, as long as we keep improving & not getting thrashed by 10 goals or more. Keep bringing on the kids & get them ready for 2008 & beyond.

I believe we have earned some degree of respect this year but those 100= pt thrashing mean that we are still not taken seriously..

I Like tivva but the question is do the meat-PIES? Tiv 4 Taz?
