WHAT IS HAPPENING DURING THE HALF TIME BREAK?

Why are the Tigers coming out and getting belted in the 3rd quarter EACH BLOODY WEEK.

The guys are showing plenty of heart and spirit to win games, after we recover from 5 to 8 goal beltings IMMEDIATELY after half time, but this stuff has to be addressed.

Are they eating or drinking something wrong, or too much of something?

Are they relaxing too much during the break?

Are they not relaxing at all during the break?

Let's hope its something simple that can be stopped IMMEDIATELY.

Good question....My mates and I spent most of the third quarter debating this very topic and are still at a loss.I did hear Richo after the game say on radio, that the players and coaches have had umpteenth meetings on this very topic .....and well you once again saw our third quarter last night

Someone needs to ask Matty Knights what he does with his charges at half time. They came out and spanked us last week.

Perhaps the club are focusing too much on what is/is not happening...

:don't know

this is a real worry and needs to be addressed asap. im just thinking back to the last geelong game... we lost the game the 3rd quarter as well

When you go every week it is obvious we come out flat after half time .

Our opposition have kicked over 20 goals more than us in the 3rd quarters this year. More than anything we seem to slip defensively because we concede far more goals than any other quarter.

Clearly the boys are not fired up so this must be a key focus for Wallace from here on out.

They definietly need to change their routine

Maybe shower & refresh players with a change of uniforms. Freshen them up

Or the energy replacement takes too long to kick in (food or drink)

It is a concern & with Geelong we will not get the chances we did. Last time we played Geelong they killed us in a 12 min burst in the 3rd oddly enough

Interestingly we seem a better side after the short breaks with the 2nd and 4th quarters being our best for the season (see below stats);
Q1 won 7, lost 9, draw 1
Q2 won 10, lost 6, draw 1
Q3 won 7, lost 10, draw 0
Q4 won 9, lost 8, draw 0

Q3 in the old days was deemed the 'premiership Quarter' and it seems we are obviously some way off 'the premiership' with clearly our worst being the 3rd quarter. The good news is that we have managed to have some of the highest scoring quarters for the year, so it shows we can match it with the best of them ... just not consistently!

the half time energy boost of steak, potato mash and beers should be looked at

lol. and to think that back in the 70's they actual use to eat sasuage rolls and pies at half time to boost the players energy for the secound half

i heard we sit in a circle & pass around a joint

we then dial for pizza

which is delivered at 3 qtr time

seems to get the guys going again

:hihi

Didn't TW look at what Adelaide were doing to sort this out a few weeks back? If my memory serves me right it worked for the next game but we've gone back to our old habits since then. It's obviously a mental thing and not fitness cause they can find their 2nd wind in last quarters. hopefully they can deal with it asap.

I think we give our jumpers to a team of clones that can't play football, so that the real players can rest and be fresh for the fightback in the last quarter. No other explanation makes sense.

Basically we've been just leading at half time often or at least in the game against a quality opposition and Wallace is trying to stay close. Just watch how TW tends to push two guys loose in defence early in the third (sometimes straight at the bounce) obviously to try to settle the game into a rhythm. Basically any fwd movements we get early in the third (unless they're pin point passes) get rebounded easily (cos the opposition have loose guys aswell) and the midfield push back and get stuck in a rut in defensive mode. The opposition have been getting a goal or two and then the situation becomes panic mode and the whole midfield go completely defensive.

Solution: Show some coaching balls and back your guys to win the contests. I would love to see them come out man on man against Geelong from the 1st bounce and particularly after half time if it is close.

It seems as though our mids & HFF's just stop presenting through the middle. We are getting it in defence & no-one is putting their hand up to want the footy. It is so *smile* frustrating to watch each week.
