What is it with us??

And I donated money for the club to buy more advanced training equipment last week. ::)

What for?

Maybe the club needs to hire and EEG machine to measure brain activity or lack of in the players, and one of those seeing - eye charts with the letters on them wouldnt go astray, neither would a book of pictures that shows up colour blindness.

;D

I've already said this (and been slammed for it) we are perpetuating the losing culture. I don't think the players even believe they can win any more. They must have been amazed when Melbourne somehow played worse than us for 2 quarters. Was that game tonight an example of our development and supposed to give us hope for the future? NO other club would accept the dreadfully low standards we exhibit.

I traveled home on the train with a large number of other richmond fans. I didn't detect a lot of positive vibe I can assure you!
Those little kids in their tiger gear, god I feel for them. Some kangaroo smart alec started singing our club song. See what has happened, we are a laughing stock.

I'm telling you, losing basically every game of the season and getting a high draft pick is doing NOTHING for our club except for DAMAGE. It's damage to the player mindset, the supporter base and the future of the once great RFC.

I HATE LOSING

Good post Mex. A lot on here seem to be putting our future hopes on draft picks. Even if we do get one or two"stars," it takes a long time for them to develop. 2011??? Maybe, but the way we are going that is no certainty either. What we don't have, even in the making, is a genuine match winner or winners. Sure, Bowden gets heaps of possessions, but he is nothing else but a solid defender. And take our midfield. Hardly a Ling, Bartel, Judd, Black or Power amongst our lot. How many goals have our midfielders kicked for the season?? Our forward line?? The most dedicated and hardest working guy in our club in Richo. He is our one and only real star, but having said that, who else do we have up there to kick goals who is 6'4" or 6'5" Browny, when fit is a chance, but that's it. We are and have to be Richocentic. Hardly a formular for consistent success is it? Have you noticed how the really top teams kick to space, and the forward runs into that space to take the mark. What do we do?? Kick to a contest, often with Richo, one out against two or three.

Now, I don't profess to have the answers, but suspect draft picks may be helpful in the long term, but not in the immediate future, and like Mex I am so sick of losing week after week, year after year. We all have our ideas on how the club may turn around and become a success again, but nothing I read on here, gives me much hope or joy, in the solutions mooted.

At the end of the day, it's the club, the players and the coach that will make the difference, and we can only hope they have some answers. Hype and spin has worn very thin now.

To repeat Mex....I AM SICK OF LOSING!!!

We just don't need our young players developing a negative attitude that's been around for years.Maybe some of the younger boy's need to be made the leaders next season to develop a winning culture.

Most of our players are poor footballers by AFL standards. Simple as that.

correct, the thing is what i still cant understand is why is that these players have been playing probably since 4-5 years of age and still have bad disposals, why do we recruit players whom lack fundamental skills ? what the hell do they do over pre season.Honestly for players whove been playing the game for 15- 20 odd years that cant hit a target is a disgrace.

its like hiring a sparky who cant wire something properly, i know wouldnt hire someone with poor skills in their chosen profession !!

It should be the first thing recruiters look at ball skills, stuff all this agility,athlete crap etc etc, if they cant bloody well kick or handball properly they shouldnt be playing afl.

Missed some easy chances. Tambling, Edwards, Riewoldt and Richo all culprits. Polak missed two kickable ones too.

I tell you how we can make some inroads into this area of our play: sack the skills coach or whoever the nutter is that's teaching these blokes how to take set shots. Good God.

I dunno why it is, but I've had a gutful of this club getting our players to take these ludicrously long run ups when taking simple set shots within 40 metres of goal. There were 3 or 4 occassions last night (Polak, Edwards, Richo etc.) where they had simple shots in the 30m to 40 metre range, but the with the run up they were taking you would have thought they were trying to kick it 60m.

Has anyone worked out at the RFC that traditionally, the best kicks in the game:

1) have a shorter, rather than longer run up;
2) their run up is subsequently more balanced;
3) their run up is straight;
4) and their run up is generally on the slow side.

I know it wont necessarily erdaicate poor technique e.g. ball drop, but why make it harder with these insanely long run ups ?

Check out the footage of dead eye dicks like Lockett. Virtuallly walked 8 or 9 paces and that was it.

Geez its frustrating !

Stop posting sensical logical rubbish like this. We are richmond. We'll do it the dumb way thanks.

Richmond will now be poaching Brian Taylor from the Pies no doubt, fancy a round of spot kicking?

Only differences in the results last night were:

1. One side wanted to win more than the other.
2. One side had a young strong & tall focal point to kick to.
3. The other side didn't have anyone they could place on that young strong & tall focal point.
