Now that the dust has settled and the press conferences have finished, is anybody able to accurately say why we played like we did?

All sorts of things have been said by TW, GM and the other GM, the media and talk back radio callers.

Many have said and I agree that we are not 26 goals worse than Geelong.

But what is the real reason our girls guys, didn't offer any resistance?

Whatever the reason - and there has been much speculation - it was between the ears where the players were beaten. Many of them didn't turn up mentally prepared for an AFL match. That in my opinion is the coach's fault. It is his job to prepare them. On Sunday Terry failed to do that. If last year is any indication it won't happen two weeks in a row.

I like the thought the boys just became severely deflated after not being able to convert the previous 5 games.

Has anyone considered the possibility that our players were doped before the game?

All it would take is for someone to put a sedative into their drinks pre - game.

If it is indeed as easy as that, could someone please put a stimulant in there before the Port game?

i don't believe in coincidences

Gaspargate hangs heavily in the air.

but also because the club finally responded to 'play the kids' cries from supporters

our core group is (hate to say it) insubstantial.

this crash has nothing to do with wallace and miller.

it was always going to happen.

the drafting and trading under Walls, Gieschen and Frawley has squarely landed us in this position

look at my sig for the core of out team at their peak.

5 good players in Cogs Newman Foley Schulz and Polak: the rest are fringe players. i don't believe any other club would be down to just 5 good players in that age group.

the way out; patience and drafting.

how long; as long as it takes.

just keep our top picks.

Gaspar Gone
Browny ... all but gone
Same Coghlan
Jonno - struggling
Same Bowden

the next core group of players ..

Ray Hall , Kayne Pettifer , Andrew Krakouer , Jay Schulz , Greg Tivendale .... all struggling

we have the most ordinary group at our top end / leadership end of the spectrum in the league by a country mile .... it all conspired to collectively smack us in the mouth at once on Sunday night .

A learned colleague of mine has been telling me for a while now that the big gulf in our 22-27 year old group is going to see us slip further back for a couple more years before we can genuinely turn things around ....

... reckon his train of thought came steaming into the station at the dome v the Cats .

It is the Twighlight zone's fault, blame the AFL, I hate the twighlight matches, and it looks like the Tigers do too, Geelong are always in their own twighlight zone, so it made no difference to them.

:hihi

Great post DDT. Nice sig too.

We can't blame the former administration forever but there is little doubt their stench still remains.

Just out of interest sakes, the group from your sig DDT including ratings for this year, and the same for WC. FYI, Foley turns 22 in September.

26 Tuck (83), P. Bowden (89)
25 Pettifer (86), Coughlan (77 - 12 games), Hyde (72), Newman (58 - 13 games)
24 Krakeour (65)
23 Polak (56), King (NA), Moore (42)
22 Schulz (39 - 12 games), Hartigan (50), Howat (73)

26 Stenglein (83)
25 Glass (44), Hunter (67), Embley (84), Cox (97)
24 B. Jones (50), Lynch (74), Graham (56), Hansen (65)
23 Kerr (85), Judd (100), Nicoski (68), Armstrong (60), Seaby (50), Selwood (77), Sampi (42)
22 Staker (57), C Jones (NA), Priddis (68)

19 players to 13. Massive difference in quality.
