Wouldn't have a clue what it accounts for but one of he Telcos explained that was probably due to them going through global roaming rather than actually ringing the phones.

Mobile phones ring out because the local mobile towers are trying to conect whilst the planes are on average 35000 feet in the air. There is no mobile coverage at such a high altitude. The only reason why phones connected on that 9/11 flight was because it was flying at the time at such a low altitude.

So the Telcos were way off the mark about phones trying to go through global roaming?

Can't find the reference I was referring to but this is similar.

However, technology industry analyst and "E-Commerce Times" columnist, Jeff Kagan told CNN that no conclusions can be reached concerning the ringing phones.
When a cell phone rings, he told "The Situation Room," it first connects with the network and attempts to locate the end-user's phone.
"If it doesn't find the phone after a few minutes, after a few rings, then typically, it disconnects and that's what's happening," he said.
"So, they're hearing ringing and they're assuming it's connecting to their loved ones, but it's not. It's the network sending a signal to the phone letting them know it's looking for them."
Kagan told Wolf Blitzer that the technology meant he couldn't speculate on what ringing phones in this situation could mean.
"Just because you're getting ringing, just because the signs that we see on these cell phones, that's no proof that there's any -- that's just the way the networks work." Link

No, the networks were trying to roam but there is no access at such an airspace level. It simply doesnt work.

Pretty sure that's what was meant in my original comments you quoted.

Just a question for you. Do you think authorities will find the plane? Or any debris?

Why single me out for that question and what do you reckon about it? I don't have an answer. I wouldn't have a clue if they will or won't find anything.

Next headline will be 'What the hell happened to Malaysian Airlines'.

Lost 90% of share price in 10 years. Imagine the compensation payouts to 239 passengers' families.

It was an Athens flight that crashed in potentially similar circumstances - rapid decompression leading to disorientation and hypoxia of pilots. Plane in athens flew on auto pilot until ran out of fuel and crashed into the mountains.

Thanks Hugo,

So the gist of what they were talking about was on the mark.
Obviously their recollection of previous catastrophes was not as strong.

Sorry, gee really. I was just asking a question seeing you were asking questions. You need to calm down. Alot.

Golfer Payne Stewart's death is also another case of passengers and crew passing out and the plane flying until the fuel ran out.

I'm very calm thanks. My questions were genuine. Of all the people posting on this thread you singled me out for an opinion, especially without offering one of your own. No issues with it. I just wondered why. I answered your questions. I notice you opted to make it personal rather than returning the courtesy. :blah

Of course your question was genuine - your response was agressive to say the least. But you go on with me singling you out. I just wanted your opinion because you were responding to my postings. I never made it pesonal, that is not what i was about and that i think is disgusting on your part and you are trying to deflect on your baseless claims. And we can all fall back on the blah bit when we cant defend ourselves. I will leave it there. This is too important of a topic to go into this sort of rubbish.

Hmm!
That was about 15 years ago, wasn't it?

Three times in 15 years, not sure if that's a common occurrence, or not.
Others may suggest further scenarios of the same or similar nature.

You did single me out. You didn't ask the question generally.

Seems rather personal to me.

And you still didn't return the favour of answering the questions. Interesting you're so interested to know what I think but have neglected to tell us what you think.

I did actually.

Oh dear....ok. You need to calm down.

I hope they do find debris down in that longtitude that they claim the plane went down. There is a lot of questions to be answered in this saga and personally my doubt is they will find anything down where they are searching but hey i probably might be wrong. Just a hunch of mine. They keep on seeing plenty of things on satellites but nothing in the search areas.

Another Malaysian Airlines plane down. So tragic. Reported to be 295 dead including 27 Aussies. :(
