Well just heard a snippet so not sure. sounded like:

Ty Zantuck has a fractured cheekbone after being king hit outside The Motel night club in South Melbourne.
He was leaving the club and hit from behind.
Surgery next week and will miss a few weeks - hope to be back 4 to 6 weeks.

. Presumably if Ty's jaw has been fractured as claimed it will take 4-6 weeks to heal. Most likely be back in 10 weeks

I also agree about Wayne Carey, you read my mind. I was dead against getting him at Richmond when the idea was muted on the boards.

Not good news ......its seems that the club is satisfied with his account of events whay ever thet may be. :-/
One thing i am disappointed in was the way this item on 10 news was reported. It did initially give the impression in its first grab that a Richmond player was "seriously" injured. That conjures up lots of wild imaginings.
While i think it is a "serious incident", i object to the way it was reported in this manner.
But then again, i suppose some stations will do anything to get ppl to watch their broadcast. Funny thing is, i didn't even see it get a mention on 9 news.

When I read some of the posts that said club fight I thought you meant the actual footy club I said oh no Ty's done a Carey!
Zantuck sidelined after incident

Richmond defender Ty Zantuck faces up to six weeks on the sidelines with a fractured cheekbone, following an incident at a Melbourne nightclub last Saturday.
However, Tigers football manager Greg Hutchison told Ten News that Zantuck will not be penalised for his involvement in the incident at the The Motel in South Melbourne.
The details of the whole thing are still a bit sketchy and the understanding from our point of view is that he was leaving the nightclub and was just hit from behind on his way out, Hutchison said.
Zantuck, who did not join his teammates on their AFL community camp in Traralgon, will have surgery next week and almost certainly miss the entire Wizard Home Loans Cup. He is then likely to face a race against time to prepare for the home and away season which commences in just over seven weeks.
It's a disappointing thing that we would obviously have preferred not to happen and unfortunately Ty's going to miss a fair bit of footy, Hutchison said.
We just hope that he comes through the surgery alright next week and he's back ready to play in four to six weeks.
Now in his fourth year at Punt Road, Zantuck is coming off a career-best season with the Tigers, playing every match last year and finishing ninth in the best and fairest.
It was mentioned on another site sometime ago that Ty's ego was bigger than his biceps and his attitude was following suit.
I am not suggesting for one minute that Ty was in the wrong here as I don't know all the details, but I hope this incident was not the result of an over inflated ego.
Having witnessed a certain St.kilda player exhibiting such an attitude at the Crown Casino when heavily under the influence, it is not much wonder some players come under notice.
What ever the cause, if as they say, it was a result of a King Hit from behind then it doesn't really matter what Ty might have said or done. It is still a cowardly act.

I can't see why it's a disgrace based on the facts we know now. Players are entitled to a private life. I just wish they wouldn't pick places where they're targets.
If they turn up to training and do everything that's required of them and they're not destroying themselves, who cares if they go out.

i agree with some comments about ty.after watching him at training last friday with his tipped hair he certainly come across just by his hair that he would/could have a my **** dont stink attitude.
if thats the case he has learnt a painful lesson into changing his attitude altho being king hit is very cowardly.
as far as nightclubs etc what can the club honsetly do?all they can do is drum it into the players heads that be very wary as footballers you can be easy targets.

Make it clear to the players that they are profesional athletes who get paid good money to look after their bodys. And more importantly maintain a respectable reputation by not getting caught up this these situations.

The clubs probably already told them that cracker. What can they do lock them in a room and only let them out to train? If Zantuck, Pettifer, Blumfield whoever it may be is stupid enough to go out and get drunk or make a scene whatever the case may be then that's their own stupid fault. As they say boys will be boys. Danny's not their babysitter he shouldn't be blamed for the players stupidity when they go out and get into trouble.
The players are almost full time - they put in enough hours (7 days a week) to have some free time to themselves and do what they choose to do - otherwise they'd just get burnt out early - psychologically important too to have other interests - whether that's clubs, pubs whatever. If they're dickheads and abuse that and do the wrong thing, they won't last too long in the game.
