I really think there are quite a few players who are being played out of positions.

I know our list is young and there is the middle gap where we are light and then we have the older players who have been at the club some time and just wil not deliver us to much more.

Raines- half back or in the middle. looked out of sorts but came back to some form last week. centre for mine or wing

Deleido- again played half back an i know why terry is doing this , but i would love him to play in the middle on the ball

Tambling- wing or half forward

Richo- full forward or out at chf, floating (but this good test his doggy hammies)

Shultz- ff , chb, chf where? personally ff with the 50 arc to himself

Polak- recruited for chb , but played everywhere. I would love him to setle at chb and ruck centre back to help simmo.

Brown- i am worried about his future. when he comes back where do we play him? forward pocket , out of the square?

Thoughts????????????????????

Why fuss about players playing "out of position?"

Brennan and Merrett are doing well playing out of position at Brisbane. So is Ryder at Essendon. Collingwood have played the Shaws and Swan out of position for most of their careers. Wirrpanda is still playing out of position after 10 years.

They should all play where the team's needs are greatest.

Playing Bling on the HBF isn't a bad idea at all. He seems to drift in and out of the game, but this is easy to do when playing on a forward flank or pocket. Maybe a run in the backline will aid him in getting his hands on the pill on a more regular basis.

IMO Raines will do his best work in the backline whereas Deledio could do so much more if he played midfield.

Raines - Midfield

Deledio - Midfield

Tambling - Rotate midfield half forward

Richo - Floating half forward to allow Shulz to get a hold of Full Forward

Shulz - As above has pace leads well Kicks well nuff said

Polak - CHB when Simmonds gets help in ruck from Knobal or Hall until then he will ruck & rest in the forward line.

Brown - Once back will play forward pockect until his fitness is up to it then he will also rotate through the middle

Every player has a favourite position and could be a specialist in a certain position, but to be a successful side our players are required to be versatile in several positions.

Never smarter words spoken - keep being amazed by the knowledge of non-playing posters to question TW.

No such thing as out of position in modern footy. There are only poor match ups.
Sheedy was a master at shifting half his side out of position during a game and making things happen, probably by taking the players out of their comfort zone and making them rethink their game.
Nowadays there are only a few genuine positions on the ground and the rest are rotations.
The area where a side gets hurt is when a mismatch of player type occurs.

Deledio will play at HB this week again, but by the end of the year he needs to play on the ball.

Playing at half back is just going to give you a cheap kick, he is a ball winner and by the end of the year needs to cement his spot there.

A run with role alongside Judd would be the way to go this week, but TW is wanting to develop him at HB first.
