What will Terry say about that one?

You may be right nemesis of demazin, but maybe it works for Kayne, even though he beats his head on the ground he keeps competing.  Maybe other players all need to be stronger and keep their heads up irrespective of what teammates or opponents are doing out there.
While he is cursing and banging his head about there are opportunities going begging. It deflates his own side and lifts opponents spirit. Richo is even worse in this regard.

They all need to be stronger and keep their heads up. I'm not going to get into an argument over whether Kayne can play. All I'm saying is with better self-discipline he can be a 50% better player, as well as more inspirational to his team mates. That is the major difference between where he and Nathan Brown are at "mentally" on the field.

Flip side of beating yourself up when you make a mistake is thinking you are a champ when you kick a goal - sometimes that type of confident self delusion is handy in a footballer
Both of those traits give me the "irrits".  You are right about it being self-delusion. What they need to remember is that winning the game should be by far the major focus, if not the only focus. This hi-fivin', arse-jivin' bullcrap is for basketball, not football  >:(

I think if Terry had a problem with Kayne' headbanging- it would disappear. I also am against the high fiving crap. What i am talking about basically is self belief and ruthlessness in urilising any advantage. For example you never see LLoyd miss a goal when giving a dodgy free or when momentum starts to change in Essendon's favour. Its about killer instinct - finishing a side off when you are on top. Nothing infuriated opposition supporters more than KB arms up running a semi circle celebrating another goal. He was the most hated and ribbed richmond player and the most successful and begrudgingly respected and the most ruthless in relation to playing well when it counted - probably the best finals player of all time and arguably played the best final series of all time in 1980.

Arrogance and confidence go a long way to establishing a winning culture. Dermie and Dunstall trash talked their opponents big time and backed it up on the field. A killer instinct is vital if you want success. Richo doesn't have it - Carey did and I think Schulzy has!. Tivva doesn't have it - Pettifer does. Bowden and Johno dont have it - Browny does.

I am hoping that Lids, Tambling, Meyer, Polo, Pattison, JON, Hughes and Raines do. The early signs are positive in this regard. One should note that a lot of Richmond draftng concentrates on what is between the ears and I think when these kids settle in we will have a very different tiger side to follow.
