What will the brightsides excuses be for todays performance

its not just this match
its how we play every game

we should train 100 miles an hour evry training session
and play 100 miles an hour every game

regardles who is playing, whowe are playing and what time of year it is..

Agree, you need to have some sort of personal pride and effort in what you do, whether you are a footballer, tennis player or accountant. It is how we go about things that really matter.

As we are now in the 4th year of our rebuild, you would think that there would be some signs of improvement that are clearly visible?

As the season has not started yet, we need to hold back on some judgement for now.

Look, as much as what I saw against St Kilda made me froth at the mouth :frustration and call for a change of coach, with all due respect, it is still the pre-season.

Terry knows his head is on the chopping board, and that his fate will be decided in the HOME & AWAY 2008 season. Undoubtedly this is where his focus is. He wants to go into the year with a few injuries as possible, so the Tigers have the best chance possible to make a good start. Make what excuses you like from this ;).

The tigers will struggle this year, for all the excellent reasons many posters, ad nauseum, have posted. But overall we will improve. We have Simmonds, Polo, Thursfield and Brown all able to take the field fully fit. Coughlan, our best mid will hopefully be able to regularly get onfield and have increasing impact. We also have numerous third, fourth and fifth year players who will undoubtedly improve. How much will we improve? Don't know, probably not enough to make the 8, but hopefully enough garner a little respect from opposition supporters this time next year.

im waiting for the excuses to come out for todays insipid performance:

1. Geelong are the reigning premiers and we were last

thats not an excuse, thats just a fact!

What were you expecting? somehow between last year and now we miraculously became so much better we would actually be competitive with a team who thrashed the 2nd best team in the comp?

I am quite comfortable with were we are. Nothing has shocked me yet. No major surprises but there are a few questions that I would like to pose.

1) Luke McGuane- has not been active and many people on PRE touted him as one of tall back solutions. Looks to be treading water. Was getting major wraps over the summer.

2) Travis Casserley- Looks to have done nothing to hurt his chances and has made strides over the preseason.
Should he be in round 1? I say yes. I have said this for 18 months, Casserley has a lot of Jason Gram about him. We are we not promoting this guy. What is he doing wrong?

3)Kelvin Moore- Is he ever going to be a long term solution?

4) Andrew Raines- Does he ave a spot anymore? If he is at Cobrug what spot does he play?

5)Cleve Hughes- How long does he get carried for? How long do you tell him "your our CHF for the next ... weeks".
I go for six.

6) Jack Riewoldt- should play as a mobile tall, back or forward. Discuss.

Just some points that I am mulling over.

its funny i think dak side bright side is crap .but in a funny way it does sum up both divides.
most genuine darksiders are accused of hysteria yet it is us who continually prdict failure hence we are are the least surprised when we lose.
what brightsiders confuse continuity and honest assessment with is angst. and yes i get angry because im sick to death of pointing out what is wrong. and you know i mustbe right. we keep on losing yet im told to go stuff off we are going okay get alife your hysterical.
i havent changed what ive been saying for 6 yrs how the hell am i hysterical.all iever get is oh its abroken record claw give it a break.how about we actually dish out the praise when they actually improve. yes the ones who dont chop and change are the darksiders. we will change our tune when things actually get beter.
in the mean time i suggest the poor deluded ferals keep on making up the excuses for what all realists know as a rabble footy club..it gives us poor old darksides something to take our mind of abject mediority. it also gives one a good old laugh at such gullability.

Are you actually a 100%, 24 carat moron?

Do you really think that people on here, after 25 years of failure, little signs of improvement, and having won the wooden spoon last year are really predicting success?! NEWSFLASH: YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

"You know I must be right" - Whoa! Everyone recognizes that there are myriad problems with the RFC, but that doesn't mean that you are right. All it is evidence for is that there is something wrong with the RFC; it in no way means that your solution and particular critique is more accurate or valid than anyone else's.

It's not the fact that you recognize that we have these problems, nor that you are pessimistic about it, it's that you let this attitude dominate every aspect of every post. I as yet have never seen you post a positive post, aside from chipping in on the side of your few disciples, taking pleasure in your 'exclusivity'.

It has always been your reaction to this truth - that something is wrong and we are unsuccessful - that sets you apart from the rest. Being miserable and controversial doesn't make you better than anyone else Claw; it just makes you miserable and controversial.

It's boring. Lighten up. Crawl out of your sordid little grief hole and fix that record player of yours?

You can't change anything.

I'm starting to think Steamer may be more of a chance of making afl than rooey-just a hunch really.(I've always been biased on him though)

Raines is a bit of a hacker,I'd try him hff,but i been saying that for 12 months and no sign of it so <shrug>

Moore is ok,still may make it.

Casserly I have big hopes for at hbf-we really need him to kick this year-needs more muscle.

McGuane is a lemon,I've given up on him.

Discussed(briefly)

So explain the hysteria after the Geelong loss.

Yeah but you don't actually give enough credit for what the club is trying to do to improve its position, its all black and white to you. You don't acknowledge any other way of doing things apart from your own.

And I suggest you you given some consideration to what disco said about name calling.

what hysteria it was more of the same. the only thing that causes angst to me is the refusal of people and more importantly the club to recognise how poor they were.in their last hit out against another opponent with all players supposedly putting their hands up for a senior birth in round 1 we get served up utter mediocrity. and what do we cop from ferals oh its only a practice game. nothing changes it doesnt matter if its for real or not the team plays with no passion cohesion or pride and people excuse this.they play like this for a reason those reasons are pointed out and people ignore them they live in fantasy land.

so i dont give credit where the club has improved. i rarely go into off field issues but ive acknowledged the off field efforts and acknowledged the club being on the right track of field. in saying this though we are still 4 mil in debt and believe more needs to be done.

when it comes to footy and the footy dept where have they improved. they have made some appointments but where have they improvedi dont see any.
our kids dont seem to be developing at the rate of other clubs we continue to hang onto players who have no pride or passion and no upside. they continue to play a brand of footy that is laugable. recruiting continues to be poor with the exception of player selections in the last 2 nds. list structure and depth remains terrible and we have people still there who have failed abysmally in key areas.do i need to go on. they havent got much right to give them credit this is reflected in a wooden spoon after 3 yrs of a so called rebuild.and to be realistic will be reflected with another spoon or very low finish.
things are black and white its the muddying ofthe waters that has prevented improvement it stops us from going one way or the other.the club is mired in grey it steadfastly refuses to make tough decisions when it comes to its players and its footy dept.

hmm finally name calling. deluded it fits there are plenty here who are deluded. and feral well i consider all of us to be a little feral. remember the saying sticks and stones.

You never replied to my post on page 6 claw! I'd been looking forward to it.

Pity. I'll have to look elsewhere for some incoherent and self-important wrist-slitting.

But don't worry, there are able and willing volunteers who are here to help make the pain go away...

There was something about that one though eh? Well now I'll just have to rack me brains and find out what made that last one so good. But don't you worry, I'll tackle that one right upstairs for the both of us.

Let the radio silence commence?

Actually 'ang about, 'ang about. Now what is your game?! You most probably didn't even read my other post did you?! Can't believe it! There was some good, serious stuff in their too. Disappointing.

I'd like to comment on the game that I didnt see.....Disapointed YES...Surprised NO......No doubt Geelong put the cue in the rack but good on the boys for winning the qtr by more then 3 goals...

What do's surprise me with all the different attitudes is do we really expect to see amazing improvment before,Edwards,Reiwoldt,Connors,Rance,Cotchin,Casserly?,Polo,Tambling,Hughes,Collins an atleast one of the ruck types, make the grade an become cemented senior players.

IMHO most of our senior bunch are still good players but hardly match winners an out of the 6 or 7 only Richo an Simo a KPP which of course adds a lot more pressure on the kids.

Personally not unhappy with our under 22s an of course some have ??? but I can honestly say I cant EXPECT to see us beat a Geelong until at least 10 of our best 22 are replaced by the kids

C'mon CC, don't let the fact that you didn't see the match stop you from making a comment, it seems nobody else has!!! ;)
