oh yeah back to the title of the thread.theres nothing any of them can do to win me over.unlike most ferals i know an absolute dud when i see one. ;)

at least you're honest...

Despite the "as long as they try hard I think they're great" lines that are being thrown around, I seriously doubt whether most baggers on this board could ever truly acknowledge any of these players as being worthwhile even if they turned in consecutive stellar seasons.

But then, people never like to admit they're wrong, do they?

Let's look at it another way - If Andrew Raines had kept his place in the team all year, averaged almost a couple of goals a game, played a significant role in a few close wins, consistently pumped the ball inside 50 to the advantage of other forwards, and had a better than average conversion ratio in front of goal, then you know as well as I do that everyone here would be lining up sing his praises.

But K. Pettifer does it and it's not good enough, people call for him to be traded or delisted.

Very, very, strange.
tis a very good point u make. the bloke had amuch improved year, really we should have been patting him on the back.
patting him on the back for what being an unaccountable slow squib who has a heart as big as a pea.you just know some things will never change with certain players.

At least he has a heart. ::)

I'm with you Skills

So do we Claw - so do we.

The RFC could do a Brisbane and win 3 premierships in a row and you would still find fault - and not be happy.

One of the many facts of life is that nothing is 100% wrong and nor is it 100% right - there is a lot of good in the Tiger playing list - there is also some weak spots - but that can be said of all Premiership teams too.

So why not point out the good points that some of the "duds" as you call them, have! They must have elsewise TW would not play them in the side - oh - strewth I forgot TW is a dud too - in your eyes!

What I find strange is they way certain people won't hear a word said against Kayne Pettifer.

I don't think too many called for him to be delisted.  People discussing him as a trade was fair enough imo.

Most people here have acknowledged Kayne's positives this year yet you choose to ignore that BS.  There are certainly still some negatives I hope he is encouraged to work on.  Can't you see them or do you think they should be swept under the carpet?  Other players don't seem to get the exceptions some seem to expect for Kayne.

My main gripe with him was his attitude...I knew things about his party boy life and his attitude he'd made the bigtime so didn't really have to put in much effort.  Facts Kayne has admitted himself in an article this year.

If he got a kick up the backside earlier instead of people thinking poor little Kayne's being picked on he may well have been a far better player a lot earlier instead of taking 5 years to look like earning his keep.

1. Tivendale - finish season 2006 listed in the top 5 for hard ball gets.

2. Chaffey - same.

3. Krakouer - in the top 5 for disposals.

4. Roach - two or three 20 possie games, anywhere.

5. Limbach - a full season & 50 goals for Coburg seniors.

A very fair and reasonablr summary Fantail. I particularly would like to see those results for Krakouer and Limbach. If Tivendale got that many hard bell gets and improved his disposal a little, which shouldn't be hard because he can be a beautiful kick, then he would become a very valuable player (again). I think he is part of TW's running game plan but TW would only be willing to give him one more year playing at the level he is at the moment. He has proved he can play at this level finishing 3rd in the 2003 B&F.

Tivendale- Finish in top 5 hardball gets and top 3 in uncontested.

Krakouer-Top 7 in disposals

Troy Simmonds- Average 5 contested marks for the year

Kayne Pettifer- Get 2O possies more then 5 times

Greg Stafford- Have enough form to warrant 18 games.

By the way has anyone looked at Greg Stafford Vs Troy Simmonds at finalsiren.com on the player compare. Over the course of there AFL life there stats are almost identical up to this stage. WOuld Troy continues to improve and not tail away like Staff but it makes intresting reading on what to expect from Troy in the future.

ah the old terry is our coach and as such can do no wrong syndrome rears its ugly head again.wallace has made many mistakes about players over the yrs and imo hes made another perservering with a squib like pettifer.

What would they have to do to make you love them?

I wouldn't use the word love, fond would be more appropriate.

Only once they have earnt the respect from all the other AFL clubs.

I'm not ignoring anything - read my first post.

For me to love them they have to give 100%. They have to put the team above their own personal glory and they have to be willing to do the hard things not just the flashy or easy things.
I'm not a fan of players thinking their shoes don't stink just because they're AFL players and no matter how little they do, or how bad the team is travelling, they will get their pay cheque anyway.
I don't criticise players if their skills aren't quite up to it because it's not their fault they were drafted or selected. Others are more to blame there.
I realise Tim Fleming wasn't quite up to it but in some ways I admire him more than a couple of our present players. Despite his shortfalls Tim always gave 100% for the team.
Hear hear Rosie, 100% agreeance with your comments. All I need is to believe that every guy that pulls on the jumper will bust his gut for it, and for his teammates. Lack of pride in performance has been my biggest irk for the previous few years, obvious improvement in that area this year was lovely to see. As for Flemo, there was not a doubt in my mind either that he tried his absolute best, without the luxury of the skill levels some of them have. It's the wasted talent that gets to me.

Love them already, always have, always will!
Anyone that pulls on that jumper and runs down the race on game day is doing something that my childhood dreams were filled with.
Do I, however, get frustrated, annoyed and angry at sub par performances and the lack of success on and off the field for the past 25 years? Absolutely. Some of the insipid efforts I have seen over that time have made me want to smash the TV and have caused 24 hour bouts of depression!

Tivendale - Get injured son! Go for a hard ball get crunched and get an injury and see that it isn't that bad. Then come back and go at it like it's your last game.

Pettifer - Get over the one or two missed opportunities per game and the visible self criticism when the ball doesn't bounce your way. Focus the energy instead on the next time the ball comes to you and doing something magic with it. We know you can do it because we have seen it. Know it yourself.

Krakeour - Mate you have some magic in you. You can be anything. Get interested, get fit and develop some endurance and you will run rings around even the very best.

Compete, contest, improve.
