.... He said Durga, the Indian female deity, rides a tiger because it is the symbol of courage. "The Tigers must play like tigers. And if the supporters are positive with the team and send them their good wishes, the team will be uplifted." Link to article

Martin Flanagan has a great article on realfooty today. It's also posted on the Journos board on PRE. (It's well worth the effort to check it out)

It finishes with him discussing a person named Shekhar who has collected messages of good will for various groups of people who've been suffering hardship, and the article ended with the quote above.

It made me wonder what we'd write on a similar banner of goodwill for Richmond.

I'll write

Today you will have thousands of supporters following your every move Tiges. You let them down last week but can make amends by giving everything you have to give this week. You have to walk off the field, win loss or draw, knowing you couldn't have done more. You'll be spent from running, tackling and supporting your mates out there. Today is a new beginning. Eat 'em Alive.

What would others write on the banner?

My message would be:

Treat every game you play like a Grand Final, like there is no tommorow, like your life and the lives of others depended on it.

You have the ability, MAKE IT HAPPEN.....DON"T WAIT FOR IT TO HAPPEN!

The number on your back, the colors on your jumper, have been worn by generations of Tigers. They have played with pride, with courage and tenacity. They have bled and cried in those jumpers. They have sung our victory song at the top of their lungs after holding aloft the Holy Grail of football while wearing the symbols of Tigerland and this great club.
Generations have come here today to see you perform at the peak of your ability, to see you give your all like the Tigers of Old. They come because they believe in this club, they believe in you. They believe that you are the Tigers of Old incarnate. They come to see you play like Jack, like Royce, like Francis. They come to see you never weaken and to fight and fight and win. They come to see the Richmond Football Club play with passion commitment and pride. Now play like a Tiger, Eat 'em Alive.

Dear Tiges,

Mb reckons the Cats will win easily. The odds of Richmond getting the points have rapidly increased in our favour.

Congrats to the few who sent their messages. The results are indisputable. What a shame not many contributed...we could have got them over the line.
