If we had Blight as a coach, neither Aussie Jones or Fraser Gehrig would've played past 2003, and Loewe, Burke and Harvey all would've been delisted at the end of the 2001. AND, our coach would still be missing training regularly because of golf.
C'mon, Blight was a genius in his time, but was past it when he took on our coaching job. He had lost the players by round 5. Before a game in 2001, there was no preparation for the game, and Blight's amazing pre-game speech, was simply "I want you to read everything on this white-board very carefully". He brought out the whiteboard and there was nothing on it. How the hell do you win premierships by doing that?
I think it was Aussie Jones, who, when asked of Blight's gameplan, said "I don't think there actually is a gameplan...just lots of confusion". Now why do you think we would've won two premierships with Blight?
Blight's heart was never in it, golf was a much higher priority for him than St Kilda, and the only reason he took on the job was because of the massive pay-check we offered him.
And to all you people who think GT hated Blight and stole his job, Thomas was actually the one who suggested we go after Blight. And I reckon that's the only major thing GT's done wrong.
