what's happening with the veterans?

DDT this was in an e-mail Greg sent me in regard to our rookie situation.

We have a limit of five as we plan to include at least one of our two veterans (Richo/*smile*) outside our primary list;

geez I can't believe Richo's an old codger now........memories of 1994.........

Stafford and Richo are both 31 or older this year so must both be veteran listed surely!

A player must be lucky have 10 years continuous service with the club before the player is eligible to be placed on the veteran's list..............I think.

and turn 30 in the calander year that they start season 11

gaspar + richo ...eligible
stafford + kellaway...not yet

Yep.

From what I understand both Richo & Gaspar would be going onto the vets list. I believe this was being done to create space for the PSD. Not sure if this has actually occured. I should have asked that question yesterday but didn't.

I think you'll find only one will go on to the vets list. The reasoning is as follows. With the delistings we now have 35 players. Put both on the vets list and we have 33, which means five spaces, namely picks 8, 24, 40, 72 and PSD. Hang on, when Bowden was traded we knocked back pick 59 so now we would have to use 72 instead.

Obviously, there is no intent to use pick 72, so the PSD is the fourth vacancy on the list. We could still take 5 rookies, unless we chuck barrowfuls of money at someone like Lappin.

You lose a Rookie spot if you have a Veteran - it basically allows another player on the main list but the overall maximum remains.
