I walked away from skilled stadium on Saturday thinking our captain Kane Johnson is finished. From the grandstand he looked slow, lazy, disinterested and showed poor leadership due to lack of work rate. I thought to myself there is our main problem, our captain does not lead the way nor do our other senior players.
Today I watched the replay and I noticed very quickly that Johnson is playing under duress. It's been reported that he is suffering from a bad case of OP plus the hand injury. Surely if he is that bad at this point in the season he needs to be sidelined for the rest of the season. Johnson under injury duress is becoming a liability and embarrassing himself in the publics eyes.
Johnson obviously can't play midfield at the moment because of this condition. So now he is playing across half back and is still failing badly and getting worse every week as the season goes on. Surely it would be WISE for the club to rest him now and get him right for next season, if he is playing on? Give his spot in the side to a younger player like Jon or Casserly to get much needed experience for the future.
If he's not injured as reported then he's got to be in trouble at the end of the season!
