There,s not much wrong with the club....the the problem has always been the same try-hard so-called supporters ...

Not the endless years of below par performances.

Also, can everybody please stop calling our performances mediocre. They have been the WORST in the comp over the last 20 years. Mediocrity suggests ordinary or 50/50 results. That would be a huge improvement for us...

If I think mediocre is relevant I'll say so despite your request. I did say 'relative'. We haven't won the wooden spoon every year, we've played a couple of finals and we usually finish in the top half of the bottom 8. As I said relative mediocrity. ;)

How much is our debt now caged?

C'mon Rosy you are not trying to expose me as a fraud are you ;)

I only know what I have heard or read in the media. My capacity to retain figures to memory is shocking.
In fact I can't even remember where I read it . Maybe, just maybe I dreamed it all up and it was wishful thinking - I'm pretty sure I didn't though as I do recall Gary March delivering a good news story on our improved financial position. ;D

everyone get behind the coach and the boys. There,s still a lot to like and look forward to.

That worked in 1950. In todays world of business and competivness you need something more solid then "Richmond are a great club" to be succesfull

Yes looking through our history we are a great club, but history says Rome was a great empire, ect..

Reality is Reality. Reality also shows we are 0-9, and a long way of a finals team. The reality is that we are lagging behind in key areas, however maybe there are some signs it is turning around. The first sign is Francis Jackson. The second is the fact even though we are 0-9 we have record membership. It is just so important that membership remains solid and grows, so all of us regardless of being 0-9 should be all behind the club. I am and im sure those posting on here feel the same way otherwise wouldnt waste their time posting.

I tried looking for the figure on the net without luck.  I agree with Caged though, last I heard when our annual report was released (which is now dead and recycled for me) was the debt figure was well down from the $4m+ we originally owed, and we are definitely away from the brink of insolvency we headed towards back then.

Stevie has said in response to the Age article that Richmond is increasing off-field spending, and evidence of this in 2007 are the ongoing additions to the rrecruiting department and bringing in Craig as the development coach (a position we have not had a f/t man for before I think).  Stevie then made it clear spending off-field would increase further, but only as debt is further reduced, income rises, and our capacity to afford it improves.

It looks like we have learnt the lesson from several years ago when we spent up big off-field on the assumption of on-field success would improve revenues (and we all know the successes in 2002. 2003. 2004....).

Also agree with T4eva, the fact that sponsors are up, memberships are up, and we are worse than usual does indicate the off-field is getting its act together.

As for the onfield, patience is needed to allow better recruitment and better junior development to work (it won't happen overnight, but it will happen  ;D)

we do need to put money into the development of our young players, they dont seem to come on as quick as other kids do at different clubs

Not at all caged. I was just pleased to read the good news. My understanding, though I don't know why, is that we were only covering the interest on the $5 mill or so we owned. If the debt is significantly reduced I'm even happier. Good stuff.

Why do you even bother TT

Everyone knows you a hawks supporter but you just keep trying to stick the boot in to OUR great club

Even if you actually did go for the tigers, you would have to be the saddest supporter i have ever come across, you have no interest in any positives that are happening at richmond right now and continue to bag anything related to Richmond however anything hawthorn related you seem to think they are on top of the world and that they can do no wrong??

So if you do go for the Tigers i suggest you give in now and go buy your hawks membership before its too late

Now back on Topic, i'm sure i have read somewhere that we have at least Halved our Debt over the last few years and we have mad a profit for the last few also, so the signs are looking up from aour finacial point of view!!!

I agree Bowden, and to help your friend, this is the link he needs:

http://shop.afl.com.au/hawks/mcategory.asp?catalog%5Fname=Membership%5FCatalog&category%5Fname=Membership&Page=1&cookie%5Ftest=1

I hear if he buys it before the end of the month, he gets an inflatable "Buddy Love" doll, so hopefully he acts soon :rofl

You will have to excuse me now, I need to purge my temp files to delete the fact that I visited a HFC site from my PC

The supporters are too quiet when the team needs a lift!, yes me included.
We need to load the dome Sat night, and lift the roof off so that the guy's who have been giving it their all (week in week out) finally get some reward. We are going to belt a side soon and maybe it will be lethal's mob. In fact, I predict an 8 goal mauling with Richo kicking at least 6.
