Personally for me it ended during the 2005 draft. I couldn't believe that we only had three draft picks in what should have been another pivotal year in the clubs rebuild. I rationalised it at the time by half swallowing the excuse that it wasn't a very deep pool of talent, and that there would be feverish activity the following year to get extra picks to make up for it. Well obviously that never happened and it was at this point that I stop listening to the spin-doctoring. Last night was just a reaffirmation that we haven't gone nearly far enough in cutting the deadwood. But when was it for you?
I'm stuck. We cannot get rid of Greg & Terry otherwise we will go backwards, they just need to wise up and fast.
Miller has shown no nous as a football manager other than securing Wallace. His list management strategies of trading picks for players has damaged us far more than Frawley did. Miller's (coupled with Beck) drafting has been abysmal, his teaming with Francis Jackson does not look much better.
Wallace IMMEDIATELY screwed up by trying to win every game in 2005 rather than get his list right. The 2005 draft was icing on the cake.
Losing all those early games in 2006 set Richmond up to taking the best players in the 2006 super draft. What does Wallace do, play the veterans on their last legs to win enough games to get us out of prime drafting position.
So for me the honeymoon never started, but I do think the Miller/Wallace marriage is the only one Richmond can have in the foreseeable future.
