When should Ken Hinkley have been fired?

  • Only after Kochie gets it in the eye

  • When 800k Hammer finds a club that will pay a third of that

  • Cheese sandwich

  • After he persuades another club that Potato Ladhams is worth a first rounder

  • The year before that

  • The year before the year before he was threatened by a breakfast show host

  • Some time in the future - amazing, happy!

  • Whenever paint-by-numbers is widely considered unimaginative

  • As soon as he can get a job at Strathmore

Koch kept him on. There were always rumours that Hinkley was in the gun but nothing ever happened. Koch reminding his subordinates of the success requirements? How veddy 90s.

Such has been the imperative for immediate results at Port that youngsters bat way too high and in roles that are too physical.

No way Dimma or Fly would expose their youth to the kind of physical pressure that Butters, Rozee, Duursma and Georgiades have already survived.

Had they been nurtured these cubs would be fully sound right now. But injury has been a problem for each of them even this year. Let's hope they get a bit of a cuddle from the new coach.

Not to say Kochie the TV droid won't just let it all slide as he has for so many years. Why should this be the first time he had an idea?
