Its not Richo impacting on the younger players development, (we have none capable at FF) if Richmond continue with the same style of play with a new young forward he'll suffer a debilitating fate.......imagine leading all day and having the ball kicked left.right and over your head...

Hughes? Pattison? WTF you cannot be serious.

Schulzy is promising but he needs time to develop a decent motor, he's the only guy who has a goal radar, he could be a Fevola if he gets stronger in the body. Play Richo up the ground whilst his athleticism allows, then send him back Alistair Lynch style at the square. Schulzy can go to CHF by then if he's got the legs.

Guys - Terry has never understood the forward line through out his coaching career, when he was the dogs he played musical chairs with Cook & Minton-Connell so much so he destroyed the confidence of both players in the end. He's hasn't improved Richmond's forward set up since he started....we have not had a decent forward coach that I can name...can you?

I happened to talk with Kevin Sheedy socially last year and he marvels at Richo, 6"5 a 100 kg's and runs the way he does, hard to match up on...Wayne Carey summed it up well on Ch9 Monday night...."the poor bloke hasn't had anyone who knows, let alone is capable of kicking it to him" - carey regards him as a champion, I know a lot of others do.

Play him til he's 35!

LONG LIVE RICHO!

Its a fact that we are yet to recruit a forward of Richo's size. Riewoldt, Schulz and Hughes are all shorter. Anchor him to the goalsquare and let our other "guns" (read players who have proven nothing so far) lead up the ground. Richo is our best contested mark and the hands on the back rule will help extend his career. While he is in the square he will always be double teamed. That should mean that someone else is free (probably Gas).

Given how young are future forwards are RIcho is going to be around for a while yet.

Richo should retire on the same day that DIGGLER stops posting manure on PRE. :hihi

I don't understand why Diggler still barracks for Richmond, he never has anything positive to say about our hard working players who are developing nicely to bring back the glory days to our mighty club.

You should be de-listed DIGGLER, or to keep your dignity, just retire, and save us all from your manure.

Truth hurts!
I have rarely anything positive to say because they play rubbish football year after year and sorry to
burst your bubble, Richo has been a main offender.!!!
At 31 years of age, Richo is hardly developing nicely as you say!!
Time for him and some of his mates to go and let the new generation have a crack!!!

BEYOND!!
Richo is our main target. And for a reason, he is a STAR. Until someone shows they are worthy of taking the mantle of NO.1 target then Richo has to play and when someone else does whether it be Schulz, JR, Clever or Patto then that will give us 2 targets.

Ditto. Until someone steps up and shows they can offer the same or better, there is no pressure on Richo to call it a day. Even if one of the young guys develops to the point where they offer a consistent target, imagine Richo playing close to the goal square out of a forward pocket. We haven't had two worthwhile forward targets since the days of Roach and Cloke. If we had two forwards who could be counted on to hit a contest and kick three goals a game, opposition teams suddenly have greater match-up problems.

When he gets to 300 games! He's only 62 away. (238 before this week) Body always pretty strong so should be able to get there also a couple of finals in 2008 will help knock figure down a bit. The main thing there is no replacement beating down the door to take his spot. He still requires a big gorilla (as Pagan says) to play on him so he will keep playing. The guy is an Icon and we all love him!
Get Richo to 300 !!!

RCF club wont win a significant finals game with the same old kick it to Richo. It might hurt a few people around here but he should of been traded years ago when we could of got something for him and let our forward line develop.

Fast forward to this season and its the same old same old. Either play the guy up the ground and let our future forward line try and settle or rely on the past failings.....You figure it out. IMO we are well over the time for a change.

You people who are carrying on about his 300th and he is the best in this spot are missing the point of a viable forward line. YOU are kidding yourself and we will not win a premiership with this mind set. FACT.

Obviously Matthew Richardson has been a superstar for the RFC over his career, however I've little doubt he is in slight decline based on what we have seen from him so far this season.
Whilst still a solid contributor, we are seeing the match winning performances less frequently. Father time catches up with everyone and it will with Richo too.

Whether it's this year or the next, I hope the right decision is made for all concerned.
Richo deserves to go out in the right way and I'm sure he will do what's best for the RFC as he always has.

But he will be so desperate to win a flag he will play on in 2010 and win the big one, and kick his 1000th goal in the granny.

Be careful ToO - you along with a few others will gather splinters the way you are posting in so far as Richo is concerned. You know what the future of this club needs.....

I just hope that sentiment doesn't overide what is best for the club Tuby.
Richo still deserves his place in the 22 but the youngsters are knocking on the door pretty loudly.

Welcome back BTW.

Hope those pointy things dont give you too much discomfort ToO. It is these so called bleeding hearts that have continued to get the RFC where we are at the moment. Too much sentiment in a business world where only the bravest clubs get to where they wish to be.....

Richo ofcourse does deserve to be in the 22 - not in the forward line. Up the ground and we develop our forward line from here on in. Should of been done several years ago and I will say again - we will not win a grand final with Richo playing in the forward line.
