Peeves me off no end when the so called "experts" think that Andrew's footskills are inadequate.

You often hear negative comments on his kicking prior to having shots at goal or if he makes the odd error in defence...they are still getting confused with the fact that it was brother Duncan that had the suspect footskills and couldn't hurt you by foot.

I'll tell you one guy that doesn't hurt you by foot ( may have been already discussed, but I'm new here...sorry )...that is Mark Coughlan...Cogs obviously knows how to find the ball...but fair dinkum his kicking lacks penetration...balloons the ball far too often. Speaking of Cogs, I'll never forget a game against Essendon in his stellar year when we got thrashed and he was best on ground at the "G"...the umpires gave him 2 votes that game too...one of the best individual games I've seen from a Tiger player.

Absolutley agree Rainsey baby - sometimes holds the ball a bit long before distributing and usually picks safe options reather than creative options but his kicking generally OK - and very good shot at goal around 66% conversion I think.  When we played Essendon the bloke sitting next to me dropped his head when Kellaway grabbed a mark 30 out on a 45% angle just before 3/4 time and we hadn't hit the side of a barn from set shots all day.  I reminded him like you that Andrew was not duncan and that I'd seen Kellaway convert for 40 and 50 out on the boundary line when the game was on the line and that I'd back him in and AK duly repaid the faith.  Pretty important kick seeing we won by 2 points.  Also I think his dipsolsal to error ratio last year was something like 1 error for every 17 disposals, clearly the best at Richmond, noting however that backman have usually better ratios because of numbers of teammates free back there and fairly easy targets to hit from fullback to half back.

I really think that Cogs and OP are constant friends and it is taking the edge off his game this year. I get the feeling that last year he recovered reasonably but the ensuing workload of last season has got his op at a higher level this season.

Its a bummer because he has a higher gear that he is just not able to get into. IM(uninformed)O

Although Cogs doesnt have the deadly kick, his main focus is too find the footy and we should and silk running past recieving!!! However Cogs is just as good by foot both sides which is an advantage sometimes think his left is better!

Cogs should stick to handballing ONLY...definately cant kick...cant even remember the last time he kicked a goal

Andy is a really good player

Not an Ablett Hird or D. jarman but he'd be the first to say that.

But he's a very fine grab, quick thinker, hands tall, tough and a reasonably straight kick.

Dunc was really good too.

it was the other blokes who got a 'cheap' richmond jumper that botched things up

It's not about his kicking. He kicks the ball to the easiest option available regardless of if there is a player further along the ground that a player with a better kick would target.

He knows his limitations and that is why he picks the easy option. His choice of where to kick is dictated to him by his kicking ability or lack of to a certain extent. Not saying his a hopeless kick but I don't think any would disagree that his foot skills are just below par. Not his strong point in his game. He is there to throw his body into packs, run back into packs and be the third man up. He is a negative old school backman who will only provide limited run from the back half in the modern game. We cannot afford to have Gas and Andy in the same back six and expect to play modern attacking football.

Having said all that I am not a Kellaway knocker, he has been a fantastic servant to the RFC and you can never accuse him of not giving his absolute all every time he pulls on the yellow and black and got the utmost out of his body and skills. Not many can say that.

I look forward to the day when a coach sits in a press conference and doesn't say we missed Andrew Kellaway today such as last week. In fact I look forward to the great press conference that will announce his farewell.

Hear here Laff and let me say you are a breath of fresh air.
Whilst Kellaway looks the goods against mediocre opposition, he fails against quality opposition and has being doing it for years.
As Gretel Killen say, Its time to go Andrew.

There's a reason opposition coaches are happy to leave him on his own to mark the kickouts, he rarely hurts them with that crucial second posession.
