Where are our draftees from 2005 & 2006?

We would think that it'll only be a matter of weeks before we see such combination take place. We would expect TW to release Lids to be a fulltime midfielder, and he'll have other options as you have described only when Cass & JON are cherry ripe.

We lack genuine midfileders coming through, but there's no harm for Terry to continue restructuring our midfield, Tambling is another that can be thrown in and the forgotten D. Meyer should not be overlooked either.

We are a team slowly building, we can click if things go our way....................sssssnnnniffff!
Im looking at it a bit differently GPB.Sure our midfeild needs to be tweeked abit however i just cant wait for the day when every footpass is actually going to hit a target on the chest no matter where on the feild. When that day arrives so has the RFC.

Then to to top it off you mentioned Judd taking time to develop, this seriously is the stupidest thing I have ever read on PRE, he came third in their B&F in his first year at the club- media hype LOL. Judd is a freak, why you would mention him in this is nuts.

Judd's ratings, by year:

2002 - 63.4
2003 - 75.2
2004 - 85.7
2005 - 84.6
2006 - 100.9

Still a stupid thing to say is it?

As for the rest of your post, I can't be bothered arguing with you. If you want to believe that coaching an 18yo draftee is completely different to coaching a 20yo listed player, good luck to you. If you want to believe that it was coaches and not natural development that drove the improvement of the Bulldogs list, that's up to you. However, if you're going to say that Wallace is taking a long time to develop our juniors, maybe you should actually wait a long time before saying it.

Haha, it might ruin his stats not being the loose man in defence! Given the opportunity, exactly what I said about 10 posts back.

Midfielders generally get more of the ball than back flankers Stu.

So you rate your stats higher than a 3rd in the B&F in your first year as a 19 year old. 3rd in the B&F in your first year & you saying he took time to develop is stupid.
Stop relying on stats to make assessments, they can be handy, but they are nothing like watching a footballer & being able to form an opinion.
I would say it is possible to argue that natural development got alot of the Dogs players to a senior game, coaching potentially made then into a probable top 4 team.
Yep, midfielders should get more of the ball than a hbf, however a loose man in the backline picks up alot of cheap kicks.

Cometh the halfway mark of the year we,ll see alot more of Casserley,JON,Hughes,Meyer and perhaps JR and Edwards strutt their stuff in the senior side.[if not injured].

It'll be the start of the next generation, injuries is the only thing holding our progress.

But from all of those players, genuinly speaking, who's going to go in and get the ball? Is our midfield a worry?
Casserley and JON can release Lids,JB,Raines or Newman for midfeild roles. For Grunt id go for Newman & ballgetting ability and Polish id go with Lids.
Early in the Carlton game Lids was running through the middle and using his skills to set up team mates for goals. Roughly 3 times in a row Lids got his hands on the ball and the Tigers scored. Shortly after that some Carlton goon stepped on his head and he faded after that.

No, it's not. Just because Judd started at a higher point than most other players does not mean he (like almost every other player) didn't develop into a better player during his first few years does it?

Ugh, I explained that already. Are you trying to tell me you can remember clearly every facet of Judd's play in 2002 and that your memory is going to provide a better reflection of his performance than the stats I provided? How many West Coast games did you even watch?

Isn't there a law against stepping on skulls?

The thread isn't about developing the Judd's of the AFL, why you metioned him is still puzzling, I just corrected you to point out that he was a star from him first season. I obviously watched more WCE games than you cos I remember him being a star in his first year, it appears you only noticed him years later due to media hype. I don't remember every thing Judd did in 2002, his parents wouldn't either. I do remember watching him every year & like most people who watch the games, not the stat sheet the next morning, was thinking gee this kid goes alright.
You see you don't need to have numbers to see how kids are playing & which way they are going, you can see it with your own footy eye.
I'll stick to watching them play, you stick to the the numbers. At the end of their careers I'll have great memories & you can have a wad of papers saying how they performed.

lol, I'll stick to not making assumptions about other people, enjoying watching the footy like everyone else and not thinking I'm such an expert that I can give a better critique of an opposition player's 2002 performance than stats put together by a field of probably 20 expert staff.

Simply saying D'08, in 2002 I didn't need a stat sheet to see the kid was a star. Enjoy the footy tomorrow.
Hey it was good fun going head to head, cheers!

Deledio & Tambling have me astounded, drafted as ready made AFL players, still years away from having impacts. Deledio is the scariest! Looked

Sticking to this comment about Deledio Stu?

Saw Edwards properly for the first time on Sunday.

Must say, regardless of my feelings just after the last draft, that I've finally seen a player that the RFC have drafted who, I believe, has what it takes to be a decent centreman.

He has balance, poise, sharp disposal, and can take an overhead mark.

180cm is about right for a centreman.

Thought I might have even seen a couple of glimpses of Geoff Raines.
Maybe it was his hair.

Still, there's a long way to go.
