Oh East Melbourne!
What is going on with Cleve Hughes? THis kid had massive wraps and from the games ive seen him - both RFC and at Coburg - i have been impressed! Kicked 4 goals in the ones over a few weeks including two nice ones against the dons...i mean this is what 'deveoplment' is about isnt it? Not for them to star but to get a taste learning where to run etc Now im hearing reports he spends his days on the pine...wat the hell is going on? Id love to see him in the seniors getting a taste and seeing what is required at AFL.... I would love to see a team for the yr remaining something like:

White       Gaspar     Polo
Tuck          Schulz   J. Bowden
Bling         Raines     Hyde
Pettifer      Richo      Meyer
Limbach    Hughes    Krak

R. Simmonds, Deledio, Johnson

I. JON, Patto, Roach, McGuane

I wanna see where some of these guys are at....sick of seeing tivendale, chaffey, rodan etc.... i think we all know what their capabilities are. Havent seen anything of Roach...and why Pattison is in the twos is beyond me - where is that going to get us?

So can someone fill me in on Cleve cause i wanna see the big no.34 in the goal square soon. Have some balls wallace and make the calls and dont get sucked into instant success like previous failed coaching attempts at Richmond............im sick of it.

Oh it's because we're still gunning to finish number 8 (or more probably our traditional number 9 position). Playing a kid like Hughes could jeopardise this - better a Richardson with a dodgy hand or one of our established senior players (ie duds), than risk our chance at glory and slide down the ladder. Plus don't forget the thrill that potentially awaits of defeating the wooden spooners and / or the runners up. Hughes opportunity will have to wait, there is still too much at stake this season!!!

More likely because his form at Coburg lately hasn't warranted selection. I'm all for playing the young guys, but only when their form has earnt them the right not just for the sake of playing them.

Great call and you have hit the nail on the head. Just because he is a kid, doesn't mean he should play or that it will help his development.
