Phantom, How about Leroy Jetta from WA. He looks promising?

Jetta is a promising player, although I'm not quite sure what he promises. He's one of those outstanding stylish players, but his possession rates are well down against those of his WA'n peers.

I guess we'll all get a better idea after the carnival is over.

Just the kind of player that we seem to be attracted to at the moment.

Jetta looked outstanding in last year's carnival, but was to young to be drafted.I'm sure he'll be high draft pick this year.Should be interesting to see where he goe's!!

Maybe its hard ball gets the club has been saying its good at, which is different to clearances. Maybe I have it wrong.

But I'm sure I went to a discreet private function last year where GM said that their clearance work was very good and it was the second part of the equation that was letting us down i.e. the onward run and delivery after we had won the clearance. Hence the reason they drafted JON and Travis. At the time it made sense to me, but now you're telling me we're not getting our hands on it and getting to the clearance stage all that well which is quite interesting.

White's ok at the clearances. Can be a bit ratty by foot though.

Was that at that terrible little shack East of the city Red ;D

Hard ball gets are the same as contested possessions aren't they?

If so, Richmond is 6th this year, was 1st last year and 10th in 2004. Tuck, Coughlan and Richo (and Foley to some extent this year) help this rating immensely.

Still, performing poorly at the clearances puts us along way behind the 8ball to start with, doesn't it? Richmond have 1 player (Tuck) inside the top 50 for clearances this year and he's ranked 31st.

This is where the stats can be very deceptive. Sydney lead clearance stats beacuse they force so many stoppages. We are 16th in clearances because we are developing a run and carry style, and have far fewer stoppages. It follows of course that we will average fewer clearances per match. We are strong in contested possession, which is a better indicator of clearances. The Frawley years have taught us to be good at stoppages, because that style of play was closer to Sydney's.

"ratty by foot"

As Whitey is the latest of the Cannons to be picked up by the Mighty Tiges I have kept a pretty close eye on his development in adult footy and one thing, among a few, that has improved is his foot skills.

He was a bit 'ratty by foot' at TAC level but given the pace he was going at when he got his kick in it was no wonder.

The training at Tigerland appears to have got that back on track and he rarely misses a target at all now. (That will probably put the mozz on him)

He didn't miss any targets at Subiaco and only one at Frankston on Sunday.

If "Matty is still Ratty" then the improvement over the next few months will make him a super kick. ;)

Well, Rimau. I've been watching him a bit longer. Right from his junior years. Followed him (and others) closely during his Calder years under Robert Hyde. And yes, his kicking has improved since getting to Tigerland - especially in the last few months. His technique is very solid/good, so I expect he'll continue to improve. But if you've been watching him closely at Coburg you'll notice that he still has that propensity at times to miss targets when running flat out.

There's a couple of reviews somehwere...Weaver...or someone like that...that make the same comments about his junior years.

What ever became of David King from the Pies. He seemed to be a fairly nuggety strong inside type who wasn't scared of too much. Is he still on their list ?

Was he the guy who beat us with a goal on the siren at the G that day a couple of years ago ?

Not sure Bob.  IIRC he's a ginger kid from Adelaide.

Edit: Yeah, actually, it was him. Bastard

Great news young Danny has re signed which starts to make our delistings at years end a little more obvious for mine even at this stage of the year with all players that the clun intending to signed being re signed whilst these guys as far as i know and correct mne if i am wrong have yet to be offered new contracts

Gaspar

Chaffey

Stafford

Moore

Humm

Roach

Limbach *

McGuane *

Forgetting Limbach and McGuane for the moment (of which one may go) i reckon the rest of that list will go at years end.

Even though he has another year next year i reckon Rodan is a chance to go as well, amongst one or two other trade offerings.

Just been following this re signing business and if i am wrong i will gladly accept it if someone knows better in regard to the position of these guys and thought that some insight into list changes next year can already start to be gleaned.

All the debate over Hurn (wrongly IMO) should have been saved for Shaun Higgins.

I asked Miller about him and he said "too much inside" or words to that effect. We preferred the much older Muston (at #24 if poss) on type- not on potential quality.

Superior inside midfielders set up Premierships. Sydney plays two. So does Footscray (is that a coincidence?  ;)) So does Adelaide. So does Geelong. So will Hawthorn. This stuff about speed is for the outside. Win the ball- win the game.

Higgins was a skilled, very young, inside midfielder with grunt and smarts. He's going okay, isn't he?

That's one type we need. Cogs can't do it on his own and Sugar is feeling the pinch.
i agree jack about inside players. theres another type also the ben cousins type who hits the fringes at pace we sure could do with a cousins type as well. on hurn i think the club didnt take him because they considered him more of a hbf than a midfielder i can understand this as he has played a lot of footy of the backline.but i think hurn will make a very good onballer.

Is there a team in the universe that couldn't do with a Cousins type?
