PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

Our improvement this year has come from:

Richo - on track to kick 70+ goals which would be his second best season ever.
Simmonds - at least we have one ruckman this year
Brown - back to great form
Lids, Foley, Tambling - talent now starting to combine with maturity.

And despite the improvement, we're only 2.5 wins! :pullhair

Putting it bluntly, our best at the moment is enough to be competitive but not enough to win.

So, is it just a matter of giving our kids more time to mature and develop or is it more than that? IMO we need to start putting games into our young KPPs because a foil for Richo and a proper backup ruckman are our biggest concerns and we can't afford to have the team, in a few years, a group of 24yo players at their peak having to cover for a lack of quality talls.

You can see Patto's trying but he's just not going to be up to scratch as a ruckman and he can't hold down CHF. Time for him to make way for a few younger kids to see if they can fill the void.

Aside from that, our midfield's looking strong for the future with Cogs and Cotchin to come in and even our backline's looking good for the future. We just can't afford to be complacent and think "it's just a matter of time."
