Wheres Mitch Morton ??

Astbury has been named in the role Mitch is competing for. He may be green but I see DA as an excellent team player. Just does the right things, naturally and works hard both ways.
Still it would be nice at some stage to see Mitch up forward working with Griffiths & Riewoldt.
Don't think he's been done a lot of favours in the past being asked to play a key talls role.
The ball really is in his court.

Concise and accurate my dear Tooheys well put.

Played up the ground today for Coburg and off half-back a bit. All over really. They must be trying to teach him some lessons and fair enough but I think he's a quality FP who is a good mark and is an opportunist and that's it. Looked really ordinary up the ground in traffic, looked lost in fact. I'd like to see them just settle him back in his natural position and just see how it goes, kicked 4 the other week for Coburg for example. Today he was shocking. His lack of pace up the ground is telling and he constantly was getting caught. That's how I see it anyways.

trade bait hopefully...if not dud delist

I think we're all being very hard on Morton.

He's a talented player and has a lot to offer to the club. Obviously he has a little bit to work on which hopefully he is doing at the VFL. Remember he kicked nearly 40 goals last year and as a forward pocket in a struggling side that's a great return.

So come on Mitchy! We know how good you CAN be so all you have to do is work hard and prove it to all of us.

I watched Stevie J last night on the TV and I thought that's the sort of player Morton should be. Competitive, skillful and deadly around the corner goals. Even half a Stevie J would be a bonus.

A bit hard to be like anyone when you've got no heart!

Mitch has lost his, his heart's not in it anymore.

I still don't understand the reasoning for playing him off half-back and in the middle. He looked poor/very average in that position for Coburg today, he's shifted forward and he kicks 2 goals. He plays forward the whole game he kicks 4-5 and people praise him. As soon as he went up there Coburg looked much more dangerous.

Apologist.

Just stating what happened. Morton isn't a midfielder/backman IMO. Keep him up forward and he will kick 3-4 goals a game and no one would be bagging him. Play him out of position and he is exposed. Seems pretty simple to me.

Been in the system 6 years and we are still arguing if he is good enough and what his best position is.

Shheeshh

;D ;D

I'm still on the fence with Mitch, but something has to give, they've tried him in other possies over the course of the whole year and now he MUST be played down forward as Barnzy says so we can see if he can play any part in our forward line post 2010. I think he can turn it around but gee what a dissapointing season thus far, the good news for him is that he has 9 more weeks to turn it around.

I would suggest that Dimma is challenging him. I don't think Dimma has necessarily written him off as a forward for us, but I get the impression that he expects players to do whatever they are asked without question.

Mitch might look very poor in a certain position, but I don't think that would worry Dimma too much. What he might be looking for is how Morton goes about it. If the attitude, endeavour and drive to have a crack are there, then Morton will be OK. But if not, then I think Dimma will be looking to other players ahead of him.

Sometimes you have to break a man to build him, the typical Army way of doing things.

Agree. Being played in a way that will benefit the club rather than Mitch Morton, like Tambling.

Perhaps our coach who is gunna be with us for years to come is trying to prove to some guy who wehinks he is a gun he has other strings to learn to his bow before he can be considered. I also thought Morton was gunna be a gun but after watxchenb thew tigfes go nuts and pkay for each other, I think IF mitch wants to play afl he better try harder or he will be gone, If weso coast got rid of him maybe hesa not that good

Think you're tight again Streaker ;). Hardwick said as much in an interview as I recall and someone here on PRE spoke to him and as much confirmed it there too - it's been painted as Game Plan training - but the guy is softer than Pettifer when the ball is on the rebound out of our arc. Won't surprise me one bit if he's GC bound for money and where he knows Guy McKenna.

Only NAB Cup but he looked good for the Swans in the first game. Had around 10 classy touches, gave 1 or goalsoff and kicked one himself. Already evident the Swans coaching staff have made improvements to his game. Will be good for them.

always thought he was a very very good player...i dint understand dimma,s dislike of him....we could use a decent half forward flanker..tho i guess maric is more to dimma,s liking..
anyway..goodluck to mitch hope he does well
