Wheres Mitch Morton ??

I think hes a player thats to good for Coburg. I reckon sending him back will do him no good -

He seems a player who will perform at the highest level but maybe not below.

I also think hes way to important for our structure now and in the future and should play firsts now - not having him IMO will do nothing to help our forward structure. hes like a Stevie Johnson type - but younger.

and just to add - In our team theres not many other players I could say should not play seconds if required.

i hope it works for him, ajck was needing the same thing. all forwards today need to be able to kick goals and tackle when not in possie. id love to see mitchg back as I think he is a 30-53 goalkicker.

Im not cut that hes not in. he has to learn team rules.

Its not just him and Jack that makes our scoreline.

Put the effort in or *smile* off

What are you on about monty?
Haven't you heard? Everything is fine with Mitch. :spin

Except he's gone from being our best goal kicker last season to wallowing at Coburg.
Learning difficulties...

Not only we do we have players who can't kick, can't bulk up, can't make the correct decisions we're now adding players who can't understand or learn instructions.

Any excuse at Tigerland.

Does anyone get the impression that without Mitch in the side Jack has lifted a cog or two?

Maybe out of sheer neccessity, but Jack seems to have had a better attitude and been more dominating with Mitch not there.

Just something I have noticed.

Personally I think it's just natural progression for a young KPF more than anything.

Hopefully Morton has a blinder at Coburg today and comes back in, god knows our forward line needs him back and in form.

Mortons refusal to apply pressure in the fwd line has him at Coburg. good work DH in not compromising. It would be easy to play him but it sends the wrong message

Agreed, but I don;t mind him learning a few team rules too!

When I have seen Mitch at Coburg, he hasn't done the defensive work being asked of him.

Dimma just said on The Couch that Morton is fine defensively but offensively he still has a few things to work on so I don't know where you're getting that information from.

We would need 15 injuries before he gets a game, dimma basically said that he doesn't fit our game style, Mitch needs more work!

I've heard that one of the issues is that Mitch is not a great set-shot for goal. Dimma wants him to be better able to convert these types of opportunities, rather than play on and snap like he does a lot of the time.

;D

Your a funny kid Barnzy.

1. As I have said in my post, my source is probably the best source you can have, the player himself. Unlike some, I don't read other forums and take my ideas and thinking from them. I am quite proud of the network of people I have built up over time who I call friends and from that I usually get spot on information. I will say sometimes the information is wrong, but generally it's around the mark. I trust my sources and won't post things unless I get them from people I trust. Also any information on here I post is done so with the person giving me the information, fully aware it could be public knowledge. So whilst Billy James can have a go, I would never give something away and have never done so without consent or knowledge I can pass it on. I found his post laughable. There are hundreds of things that gets told to me that I would never pass on. Maybe I should revert back to not posting the good stuff on the forum and stick to PM'ing certain posters who I do this for and the only reason I am on here.

2. Hardwick didn't say Mitch Morton's defensive work was fine. Take another listen before embarrassing yourself. He said he has "nailed" a few things, meaning he has gone back and got his defensive things that he needed to work on right.

3. I did also say he needed to work on a few things offensively. If you actually read below, I said he is struggling with forward patterns and gameplan. Pretty much I told you what Dimma said last night, after getting the information from the player himself. ::)

When I have seen Mitch at Coburg, he hasn't done the defensive work being asked of him. He was moved onto the half back line to teach him some defensive capabilities and the word is he did it a bit better, but obviously Dimma and the coaching committee want to see it for another few weeks before he gives him a game.

I spoke to Dimma early in the year and he rated Mitch extremely highly.

I spoke to Mitch on Tuesday night and he loved the way Dimma and the others are coaching and their philosophies. I asked him how he feels being at Coburg and he said there was a few areas he needed to work on but it won't be long before he is back. He talked about not understanding the forward patterns clearly yet amongst other things.

Nothing to see here. There is ALWAYS a story behind a decision. From what I have heard from the players mouths, and the other PREnders who were at Tuesday night's function would have seen, the players are enjoying their footy and all of them cannot speak highly enough of Damien and what he is teaching them. Everything is done to plan and for a reason.

Gee whiz some posters on here can jump at shadows and act like the world is ending!

The players picked are the ones that are either understanding the gameplan or the coach wants to see what they are made of to see if there is a future. My understanding is Mitch is viewed to have a massive future with us but needs to get some things right attitude wise before being gifted games. I think it is the best approach. Mitch certainly seemed hungry, not upset! Who knows, Mitch may never come to terms with the gameplan and Dimma may see him then as a guy who we can trade.... I will observe the rest of this year to find out.

Did your "network of people" also tell you how Thomson was going to get a bigger role in the midfield this year and step up? ;)

What about Hislop? :hihi

Thanks for the apology. Not embarrassed by your snide remark now? ::)

Well Thomson did start the year in our 18 did he not? Dropped away and has been found to be below the level. Was given a huge chance in the pre season and early in the year.

Hislop, what did you want to know about? The fact Hardwick still rates him, the fact he may need surgery for a condition he has been carrying since the Melbourne game, or the fact Damian has said he still has a role at the club beyond this year?

So, are you going to apologise for talking crap and not getting your facts straight? Or are you going to keep taking cheap shots? As I said, I don't need to say anything but I wish to spread some information to some of the posters on here who love the club and live for the club. Unfortunetely, people like you tend to read it and make it more than it should be or want to challenge it. As I said, maybe I should defer the stuff I hear about to PM's and emails of those I know and have met. Would be unfortunate as every second day a new poster sends me a PM thanking me for some information and a new friend is made. It's what keeps me logging on to the forum, which is the best forum in football, because of the great people, unfortunetely, the number of idiots are growing here.

I can see where Beavis is coming from with Morton. He’s a super talent but he has relied too long on a few tricks and was being found out. It has been painful at times watching him trying to swing round and snap set shots when the opposition are right there waiting for him.

The line had to be drawn in the sand whether Mitch was going to a flashy role player in the FP or a core contributor with a well rounded game

Why would I apologise? In case you haven't noticed you're the king of cheap shots in your long-winded rants.

Most of them you type with a superior attitude like you're better than everyone else. Look at me, my "network of people", my friends, my inside sources. Your faith in Hislop and Thomson says it all. So maybe stop acting like you have better knowledge of football than everyone else.

Sounds like sour grapes Barney, with a smattering of tall poppy and a dash of youth.

I for one look forward to TB's posts. It's not hard to determine what TB's been told and what his opinions are. Was he wrong about Thomson and Sloppy becoming guns, probably, but a lot of his information is proven right. He's even prepared to admit when he is wrong, Jackson being a case in point. That's quite a bit more open minded and fair then most of the darksiders here will ever do.

If you have issues with not being regarded as the Oracle of all things Richmond, don't start taking pot shots at other posters who have more insight than you do.
