I don't see that we'd gain much from the expense of it. No rookie elevation for mine. Give those blokes a whole season at Coburg to impress enough for a list spot in '07.

I thought Humm had already been elevated. Must have, to play that 1 game. Didn't know he'd been dropped back to the rookie list.

Cam Howat's inside form for Coburg is sensational at present.

Are you saying you'd elevate Howat, Phanto?

Humm has already been promoted.  Has he been demoted back to the rookie list?  I thought it was 8 weeks, has it been 8 weeks already? Anyway I saw Humm play against Frankston in the VFL and I thought he looked quite good.  Yes Phanto, Cam "Mark McGough" Howat has been doing well too.  Hummer for me.

I must admit that I haven't seen much of Cam Howat play as I have been watching junior matches instead. The reports others have given me are that he is playing an inside midfielders role at Coburg and is picking up 20 to 30 possies a game. The rare Coburg stats that I've seen so far this season, and there were far more stats available in 2005, supports these reports.

We've lost Coughlan, a key inside midfielder, and it would seem good sense to replace him with another inside midfielder. My records indicate that he's 182cm, and was a tad short of 80kg at season's start. Hopefully he has built himself up a bit more since then.
He is certainly much stronger than the 70kg boy that I watched in the TAC for Oakleigh 3 years ago. At his current age he's at that point where he should be able to show if he has something at AFL level. I believe he has already played 2 seasons with Box Hill.

Anyway, a door should be left open for him this season. I'd speculate that he'll either make it soon or become a permanent Coburg player. So if he doesn't get promoted immediately, I'd still give him an opportunity sometime this season. Maybe when our midfield is in a more desperate position.

haven't seen either play but long term we need the ruckman...so promote him (graeme) : 'gift' him a few games in the AFL on/off the bench so he knows what he needs to do...and then get another pre-season into him.

Here are the stats from the game against the Casey Scorpions a couple of weeks ago.

Coburg Tigers Vs. Casey Scorpions Round 9 June 4th 2006
No. Player Kicks H/Balls Total

55 Nick Carnell 5 8 13
33 Brent Hartigan 2 5 7
43 Cameron Howat 23 10 33
34 Cleve Hughes 7 1 8
42 Jeremy Humm 12 4 16
27 Shaun Huy 9 8 17
23 Daniel Jackson 17 7 24
3 Travis Jorgensen 4 7 11
13 Jacob King 11 5 16
2 Eric Kuret 19 12 31
38 Luke McGuane 3 3 6
31 Jonathan Mullins 8 1 9
1 Alister Neville 11 13 24
29 Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls 8 5 13
5 Vincent Randello 6 6 12
8 Thomas Roach 4 11 15
54 Sam Robertson 5 1 6
18 David Rodan 16 7 23
7 Travis Ronaldson 11 5 16
25 Jay Schulz 11 4 15
12 Paul Shelton 9 8 17
28 Robert Young 5 3 8

Shame Eric Kuret isn't on the the rookie list.
Did you know that Eric was in the same Calder side as Rodan in about 2001.
Although Rodan won the Morrish Medal twice, I've looked at their comparative stats at TAC a couple of years ago. Eric did have the better stats.
Maybe David was faster and looked better.

As for Angus Graham, nice fellow but nowhere near ready.
Angus will have his time, but it's not in 2006.

Phanto is correct Humm has already been elevated.

Howat sounds like he is the type of player that could be looked at although I haven't seen him play. Only going on reports on here and Andy Collins seems to think highly of him. Good enoughr for Collins is good enough for me.

Only if the needs to desire  an elevation, as no use elevating a player and them not playing and delisting them or re rookie them at end of the year.

If Rodan can't step up and replace cogo then give the kid Howat a go.I haven't seen him play but from the stats and reports he sounds like he could do the job.Sometimes these kids need to be thrown in the deep end so they can realise their potential. Remember peverill a few years back when he came off the rookie list?

Reckon sometimes it's worth elevating a rookie to find out whether it is worth continuing with them.

i can't believe the poll results

7 votes for puttiing Humm on the list...again... when once is enough
versus 1 vote (mine) for a young ruckman

this is PRE-posterous  :hihi

When was Humm demoted to the rookie list. I haven't heard of it.
