Who do you like apart from TW

Is there anyone out there who has a pedigree like Sheedy, Malthouse, Matthews....hard working players who weren't self made stars but were hard at it workman like players who know and udnerstand the affects of hard work. Champion players dont make good coaches. Look at the number of champion players that have failed.... we can put our own Royce Hart in that group.

I would like to see a David King type with his good mate Anthony Stevens....two guys who know the affect of hard work...guys who are passionate with a touch of mongrel in them. Guys who would not accept garbage from anyone....

Mark Harvey....with McKenna and Wallis as assistants.

Three that would bring some steel balls to the team, and would draft likewise.

I take your point DHN - there is certainly a common thread in the likes of Sheedy, Malthouse, Hafey, Pagan, Jeans, Parkin - no nonsense defenders who had to work it all out for themselves. But since when was Matthews not a champion?

Point taken about Matthews but he wasnt an immediate champion...he had to work hard at it....he wasnt naturally gifted with speed but he read the play and worked hard. he earned his status as the player of the century but he earned that through blood and guts

My perfect world would be Neil Craig (bringing Kinnear Beatson with him for recruiting), Guy McKenna and Knighter as assistants

I would rather wax my nether regions with superglue than see that bogan Mark Harvey at my club

He is Spud - Version II

Guy McKenna woud be a good one to go with, although, I'm judging these coaches based on the same perception I had on them as footballers.

Alistar Clarkson wasnt as good as a Sheedy, Malthouse, Worsfold or Roos, but in my opinion he had balls.

The thing Hawthorn did was find the right bloke for the job, the right bloke for their football club, a set criteria was made and the honoured that. They could have done what we want with Sheedy and bought back Wallace or Eade, instead, they got a person that they thought was best for their club. In My opinion the Hawks will finish in the four.

I wonder if some teams go for the best available instead of the best for the criteria they set.

Bring back the playing coach I say.

Matthew Richardson to play, captain & coach the team on game day. Barking instructions from inside the field.
Think of the money saved. No runenrs, no assistant coachs, nothing !

The money we would save & surely we can do better than 1.5 wins !

would love either a hard as nails defender like mckenna or a smart midfield operator like ratten

ratten is a shoe in at carlton though and if the dees dont get sheeds mckenna could be a chance
