It depends.
If he retires this week. give him a farewell game & big celebration.
if he wants to play on. no farewell game. then we either trade him (for pick 12 in the 2029 ND) or delist him.
in fairness to Tiv though, if he was in Geelongs side he would be a good player. However for us, as an ordinary side, he isn't what we need & can't step up. Ie/ he is a front runner, at AFL level, but can star in good sides or at lower levels. And at 29 he ain't gonna improve.
he has given his all in 187 odd games. it shouldn't be taken lightly, especially coming through the PSD (or rookie). i mean he was never a 1st round pick so why the expectation. on all he has done well & and he should be welcomed back at the club in the future. see Tiv woulda starred in the legendary 60's, 70's, & early 80's era of the RFC.
in saying that i do see how the RFC excepts mediocrity. for too long we have failed to make hard decisions and instead held onto far too many average players in the hope that "potential" will win us a premiership. by the time we realise that these players are not going to improve they end up well past their use by date.
unfortunately this means that these players end up of no value to the RFC as players on the field and as trade material to offload to other clubs (where they just might fit in or for them to worry about).
in essence, the RFC has in the last two decades let too many "average" players take up spots on our list & paid them far too much money to do so. at present we have these ordinary players on our list filling spots.
It's Time to stop excepting mediocrity. Delist the deadwood & most importantly trade off those players who aren't going to be of value to the RFC in future, but may be worth something now, before they end up as deadwood.
