Who is cherry ripe who will step up and who is under the pump

Love the thread tiltle Momentai!

I expect Deledio, Hall, Newman and Tuck to each take their game to another level next year.

Deledio has the class to build on his great debut season.

Hall surprised last season in his pinch-hitter role at CHB and appears to have bulked up enough to stand up to his opponents there..... plus who else do we have for that role?

Newman is a quiet achiever whose selection in the IR team was well deserved. I must say what a relief it is for the Tigers to have such a reliable kicker-in from the goal square.

Tuck played great last season but I believe he can and will dominate even more next year. With more confidence and accuracy in kicking for goal it is possible for him to become an elite mid-fielder like Judd. Like his old man the kid can kick like a mule and there is nothing more inspirational than a player getting the hard ball out of the centre and banging it through.

Those I believe who can deliver next year are Rodan, Schulz and Tambling..... and if they do we will be a genuine chance of making the 8.

Two players who are definitely under the pump IMHO are Simmonds and Stafford.

pretty good post, however Tucky is not, and never will be anywehre near as good as Chris Judd.

We should not expect him to go ahead in leaps and bounds this year, it will be interesting to see how he goes with the comfot of a 3 year contract rather then the 'must perform' pressure of a 1 year deal.  I expect him to consolidate rather than make quantam steps foward.
You may be right and only time will tell but "never say never" Goose. ;)

Having said that Judd is currently the only player with the potential to rank up there among my all-time favourites if he continues developing the way he has.

My vision is for Tuck to do more than consolidate next year and it does not require a quantum leap. For starters I expect our onball division to be stronger and more assertive, allowing him greater capacity to evolve. His strength and durability make him a potential matchwinner if he can double his goalkicking rate. Last season he kicked 10 and Judd 15, but each is the type of player who inspires his team when the pressure is really on. Judd does it by bursting away and Tuck does it by busting through. With a little more poise and balance I believe he can kick 20+ for us in 2006.

Dare to dream!

I think if Tucky had some hard at it players around him, you might find he would have a bit more time to dispose of the ball properly, rather than just booting the wind out of it & hoping someone is there to mark it. When he seems to have space, he looks like he disposes of the ball quite well.

I think the simplest way of looking at 2006 is to ask "which players will go backwards?"

Go Backwards:
Stafford - nearing the end for the big fella
Richo - as he gets older his performances will suffer but still worth his spot
Jonno - see richo
Gas - see richo
Kella - see richo

Everyone else I think will stay the same or improve.  The worry is that those who may go backwards are our A-Graders.
On balance I think we will have a better team in 2006 but due to the tough draw we may not win as many games as 05.

And Moore needs to show he is up to it as well.

Dont think he is anyways he wont play too many games cos he has too many ahead of him at both ends of the ground and he only played cos we had a lot of injuries towards years end.

Down back - J Bowden, Kellaway, Gaspar, Thursfield, Schulz and Hall

Up Forward- Richo, Staff, Simmo, P Bowden, Pettifer, Brown, Schulz and Pattison.

Very nice of you to say Madcow .I'll let my mate Barry know you really rate him. ;D

Classic comeback Evo.   :clap

I am of the belief that your first link is one of the finest links I've ever seen posted on PRE.
If evo keeps posting cherry ripe links like that he'll never be under the pump on PRE.

Maybe that should read.

"Pettifer is a Cherry Ripe", and he will be eaten by the first tough hungry opposition player.

Pettifer cops it from all quarters and rightly so imo as we all have separate recollections of the odd 'short step.'

He is a very frustrating type. He has the speed, can kick, mark and is a pretty good goal snap and an excellent set shot. Last year he also added a new demention to his game, the 'chase down tackle from behind', which imo he executes very well. What he needs to do now is to add 'fearless attack on the ball and opponent', to his CV.

One of the rare balance posts on Pathettifer, mo'.

In Terry Wallace's press release today he heaps big praise on the "Woy Woy Boy"  :-

"The stand-out improver during this pre-season has been Ray Hall. His work levels have been much higher and I am hoping he can gain on-field consistency from all the effort he has put in (providing he can continue maintain this after the Christmas break)".

He also wraps Troy Simmonds "Troy Simmonds has trimmed down and added a little more athleticism to his game through sheer hard work over the pre-season".

Others singled out are Schulz, Moore and Limbach.
