I couldn't care less what the former Cat has done in the past.
You are only as good as your last game and as we know Kingsley had a shocking season in '06.

Jay Schulz round 22 v West Coast = 2 handballs...... ;) just reving you up oh old one!!

2 more than Kent got in the seniors as he was playing reserves.

Nice one 8ty. ;)

With the recruitment of Kingsley to play alongside Richo, and with Simmo pushing into the forward-50 as well, I can't see much room for *smile* up there as well.

Schulz and Kingsley played roughly the same number of senior matches in '06.
Despite a serious injury and spending time in defence, Schulz still had a better goal average than Kingsley, who was dumped from the seniors last year because of poor form.

Kent is 29 in '07 with arguably his best football behind him.
Jay is 22 this year with hopefully his best football ahead of him.

Whilst Jay still has plenty to prove, the upside is there.

No doubt Sarge still has to earn his spot but wait and see how he goes before throwing him down back in favour of a stop gap solution.
He'll be another year older, stronger & hopefully at full fitness.
I still believe he can be a very successful spearhead. He's a natural forward who needs an injury free run to show his worth.

We need to continue the forward development of guys like Schulz, Hughes and to a lesser extent Riewoldt and see Kingsley as a back up, not the other way around.

In saying that Kingsley could prove a handy backup. 8)

TigersofOld,

I agree with you!
I think *smile* is a more natural forward than backman, and I think he would be a natural replacement for Richo when his time is up.

BUT....I can't see Wallace recruiting a 29 year old Kingsley, purely as a backup.
I think he'll be in the seniors to start with, and Wallace will see what happens from there.

Also, Wallace has this infatuation with playing *smile* down back.
He was playing down back when he got injured by Hamill, if I remember right, and was moved forward later in the season, due to our lack of goalscoring power.

The season is long....and it only needs injuries or bad form, to see the whole thing changed, but I just have this feeling we'll be seeing Kingsley up forward, and *smile* down back, more often than not.

Sarge played probably his best game in 05 in round 22 against the cats at CHB...his disposal out of the back half was wonderful in bad conditions (from memory). Personally i would have no issue with the club making him into a CHB...If Polak has such blistering pace over 20mts then why not make him a FB? PLay on the big boys in the goal square.... You could then leave cleve at FF where he really belongs and have Sarge as a dangerous swingman like Leppitch, Lucas and Cornes.

Wouldnt mind this spine for the next 10yrs:

Polak
Schulz
Raines
Reiwoldt
Hughes

Joel Bowden said in a press conference at geelong today that his fav possy is Full Forward!!! He was joking but said he wants to kick more goals this year cause thats the most fun!

Seriously though, Richo has been for 10 years and will remain THE key to the tigers forward line. Hes not the goal kicking key, but he is the forward key. Opposition coaches lay awake all week worrying about richo. He is a giant fast unstoppable man and I love him. :hearton

8ball i think your spot on here, Wallace has said 2 things that stick out in my mind

1. *smile* is not good enough to play as an AFL forward (this was before he was coaching us)
2. KK was recruited to play up fwd with Richo and both will be forward focus for us this year

In my mind our fwd structure will revolve around 5 key fwds Brown, Richo & KK - Kraka will be the small and Pettifer as the leadup mid. The remaining fwd position will be a resting midfielder who pushes up the ground and adds another mid, creates space behind him for our fwds to lead into and our mids to crumb to - this will be a combination of hyde, tambling, tuck etc

The rotating tall will be Simmons with Patto on the bench

*smile*, Cleve & Polak will all fight for 3 spots in the backline - with *smile* to take 1 (unless form/injury cuts him down), P.Bowden to take the 3rd tall that leaves 1 spot - Polak or *smile* (Cleve will probably play at Coburg)

My team would look like this

B: Raines, Gaspar, P.Bowden
Newman *smile*, J.Bowden
C: Tivendale Tuck Polo
HF: Pettifer KKingsley
Richo
F: Brown Krakour

R: Simmons, Johnson, Foley, Deledio (extra mid)

IC: Patto, Tambling, Howat, Hyde

I see knowone has given Patto a vote if all our tall forwards stay fit he could be a difficult match up floating around the forward line & also with Brown back & firing Pettifer will get the second best small defender & should cut him up!!

they will all be keys up forward champions one and all
Wouldn't that just frighten the absolute *smile* out of ya Claw.
The truth is if our bloody mids use the ball properly when going forward and our forwards have the brains to lift and seperate so that the opposition defenders can't sit of a heap of pack contests we could have a very potent forward setup.
Please note Claw that I used the terms if and could.
We will be up and running some games and *smile* in others as per usual,I'm just thinking the good outweigh the bad and downright ugly this year.
