PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

Inspired by Tigerjoe’s thread about who’s the most intimidating player in the AFL, who is the AFL’s biggest receiver ?

I’ll get the ball rolling by nominating a player I can’t stand watching. They should put a life jacket on this bloke because all game long he stands on the outside of all the action waving his arms and calling for the ball from a team mate. Heath Black.

Champion Data goes some way to support my belief that he’s a huge receiver. Check him out next time he plays and see how he gets his posessions. Rarely does he win them himself. Always lurking out in open space. Rarely plays any accountable football either by being on a man when Freo don’t have the ball. Accumulates a lot of easy posessions.

I’ll throw another one in. This may be controversial but Ben Cousins. It seems to me that every time I watch a WCE game, Cousins is racking up his posessions from a stack of cheap handball receives. The sooner opposition teams work out that Cousins gets a heap of his posessions from hand ball receives out the back of traffic or from stop play situations, the better they’ll quell his impact on a game. He’s capable of winning his own ball when he has to, but he loves that handball receive.

The game has changed over the years to suit the receiver, so I’m sure theres heaps more.
