Who is the big winner out of trade week?

The Pies have slayed them. They have a real cahcne to rebuild there list with two fantastic picks.

The Pies had clearly decided that they were not going to take the next step standing pat. They were right. That is the easy part. The hard part is deciding how you are going to get better. Sure you can demand stupid amounts for your third stringers and over rate your own second stringers like we do. OR you can bite the bullet and do something constructive and trade something valuable or trade something that has perceived value in the market place. Make no mistake Tarrant was a favourite son of the fans and I am sure that the Pies fans are split about getting rid of him but from a outsiders point of view I think they have done exceptionally well. Get rid of Tarrant and they could get a replacement in Thorp/Riewoldt or anyone else that slips through and also a chance to address there need of pace. Two picks in the top 10, just superb. The best draft in five years and a finals team having two picks is a great, great trade week.

The point of trading is win-win, not win-lose.

RFC address a weakness, give up something useful to do it.
Bullies get Aker, Bris get rid of a problem and get salary cap relief. Saves Bradshaw.
Collingwood lose a good forward, get something valuable in return.

That's how it works.

No, the point of trading is to get as much as you can whilst giving away as little as possible and trying to find some sucker to fall for it. Like what Hawthorn did to the Roos with the Hay deal last year.
