Seem to me that the AFL has managed to achieve the Script that they need over the last few years, I understand that you need to grow the game interstate but don't mess with the Heartland. It is about time that the Script included some local teams, who haven't won a flag in a Generation or Two

Seems to me, if i look into my Crystal Ball that this Years Nominees are Fremantle, Bulldogs, Melbourne, Geelong, St Kilda in that order. Chances are that we could finally have a Victorian Flag. Sad News Tigers, we have 6 Years before Andy writes the script for us.

Take a look. Don't forget about these Teams and their supporters
Fremantle. Never won a Flag, No Wonder.
Bulldogs 1954
Geelong 1963
Melbourne 1964
St Kilda 1966
Richmond 1980
Collingwood 1990
Hawks 1991
Eagles 1994
Blues 1995
Crows 1998
Roos 1999
Essendon 2000
Brisbane 2003
Port Adelaide 2004.
Sydney 2005

Don't hand out any more concessions, make em wait and earn a Premiership, just like in the Old Days.

Yeh, must say that if I was given an opportunity to ask one question to Dimi it would be:

Given the AFL commission's success in getting premierships for its agenda clubs, eg, Westcoast 92 & 94, Adelaide 97 & 98, Brisbane 2001, 02 & 03, Pt Adelaide 2004, Sydney 2005, do you see a time when the Tiges will be on your agenda?

Dimi's answer: No!

Well put Phanto.

If we continue to keep our noses clean, and run the business according to the Franchisee agreement, maybe he might be swayed.

Increasingly it feels Like a Script.

I cant stand the guy anyway. How he got the most important job in the AFL is way beyond my understanding. ::) ::)

this world is full of palpable actions which are so clear to the general public yet corporations and governments will sware aliegence to its agenda and explain otherwise yet we all know its straight out lies :veryupset

What a load of crap - you bloody Victorians think you own this game - yet it is the interstate teams that are showing the way in the new century and you expouse a conspiracy theory - an agenda - bulldust!

The interstate clubs are run like a business - with the exception of Fremantle - and are profitable organisations that have corporate leaders who know what they are doing.

The Victorian clubs are run by Neville Nobody along the lines of tribal grounds. You mob are so blinkered you cannot see passed the Murray River. There are huge markets with big dollars begging to be milked - but no the Victorian Neville Nobody's can only see the members in Melbourne as a revenue stream.

Name a Victorian Club that has kept up with the advancements of the interstate clubs - not one - and - don't go hiding behind the 10 clubs in one market bull - all clubs drink from the same talent pool - the real difference is the interstate clubs have marketed themselves outside of their city markets and are reaping the rewards. Hence they can have full player lists.

So instead of conspiracy agendas - why don't you get into the ears of the Neville Nobody at RFC and tell him that there are literally $millions to be made out of the RFC brand name in other markets than Melbourne.

The real issue that must stick in your throats is that the interstate clubs are proving themselves to better at the game of Australian Rules than the Victorian Clubs. And that is the only reason why they are winning premierships in this era - because they are better......The wheel will turn and the RFC will rise again - but only after we get someone who has a corporate vision - not just a blinkered view on how to keep the RFC Melbourne Fans happy..............

Tigericho, the last 4 Victorian clubs to win a flag, won them without Demitriou at the helm;
Infact, these teams (Hawthorn, Carlton, Nth & Essendon), enjoyed very successful years leading up to their premierships;
It's not about Demitriou (or the AFL) writing the script, it's about the clubs themselves putting pen to paper;
Have you not read the vast amount of comments here about our poor list management for over 20 years?

Skills , i appreciate what you are saying, and to keep a balanced point of view, I will not talk directly about the Tiges. but if the western Bulldogs had the same type of support that the interstate clubs had, they would been in a far stronger position. They have operated on 93% of the salary cap for numerous years while both Sydney and Brisbane have been paying !00% plus a Concession figure to "keep their Players".
Imagine the Bulldogs if they could have kept their list together rather than letting them drift away from Financial Pressure. They have now finally worked themselves back into an enviable position, but they are not a SEXY club in the AFL eyes, I imagine that there would be a section of AFL people who would prefer to see the Doggies fail, and the Franchise eventually be relocated to SouthPort.

Remember what the AFL did to Geelong, they made them play Finals in Adelaide even after the Cats had won the right to a Home Final. The Cats had an extremely strong list from 89-95. they should have won a Flag.

In so far as Andy Demitriou, he is just the latest Carbon Copy, Can you remember wayne Jackson singing at the Port Games, turned my Guts.

I was barracking for them, and I know life long Swans fans who were overjoyed.

I'd prefer an interstate team to win than Collingwood, Essendon or Carlton. :vomit

And that Saved Moola was then handed to Brisbane in the form of Three Flags.
