Who replaces Rance

Garthwaite will come in but maybe not this week.

Astbury to Cox
Grimes to De Goey
Broad to Mihochek

And I would play Markov on Stephenson

Balta has contributed very well as a ruck forward wouldn't change this one one bit
Id rejig the backline for a few weeks till Garthwaites ready
B Broad Astbury Grimes
HB Houli Vlastuin Short
Also have ruck playing back when needed filling holes after centre bounce

Yeah I agree with this.

The loss of Rance will present the selection committee with a dilemma that may take weeks/rounds to resolve.
While we didn't ever want to lose Rance to the backline setup it does now present an opportunity for a player to step up and grasp their chance in a formidable side. I am not devastated by the loss of Rance for the season. Reckon a story might be in the making for some player should they desire to press their claims.

We got several options available, id expect in short term Balta goes back and Moore comes in . Longer term Garth could get a crack and cholly couldn’t be ruled out either

Don't think so. Clubs are professional and would take into account risk management for such circumstances. While Rance's injury is a blow we will be ok.

Actually, short-term, if Garthwaite is not match fit yet, I would replace Rance with Markov. He gives extra run out of the backline.

A bit off the wall there. Markov may be able to do the job but that will depend on the opposition and probably next week is not the time to try him.

Cholly taking rances spot!? Couldn’t find two players more different
One defends with his life, then counter attacks with speed and skill.
the other does one flashy thing a game then disappears

Yeah looks like the best option SA. Really hope Markov gets the nod ahead of Ellis.

Caesar would know more than me but don't believe Garthwaite has had much of a pre season at all. That makes getting back to full fitness really difficult. Many players will tell you it impacts their entire season.
Gath played half a game in the Magoos yesterday and looked very rusty. I wouldn't expect too much from him for quite a while but hear he's the sort of bloke that will do everything possible to get there.

Broad will play Rance’s role, with Markov coming in hopefully.

I have a sneaky suspicion this might be the making of our year.

Out of adversity came 2017.

In an Ode to Bullie, Sam Taylor, playing at CHB for GWS, would have been nice ;D

A lot of the media putting a line through us to win the premiership - this type of ammo might well be the challenge that kicks this group into another gear - ala the ‘they are too small etc’ theme of 2017.

Imagine they'll scan the state leagues over the next couple of months, in prepraration for the mid seson draft.
Hopefully, some one stands out, and they don't get pinched before Richmond gets a look in.

We want that line fat and long.

Ive fielded several text 'can you get it done without rance?'

To which i copy the replay

'No. Its all about draft picks now'

My thoughts exactly, With expectation going down , it kind of relieves a bit of pressure ,

And as much of a champion he is , I personally think the 2019 rance is not quite the super man athletic rance of 2015-2017 ,

Missed for sure , but I think the outside will think it’s a bigger loss than it really is , and write us off completely

Disagree. All teams should have the same opportunity at the same time via a draft otherwise the system is open to abuse. Good teams should be able to cover the loss of any player at least until the middle of the season when the draw takes place. And if you can't then that's bad player list management.
Except St Kilda got to add Jon Marsh days before Rance went down. In any other professional sport, you can add players at pretty much any time to cover an injury.
