Newman or Polo!! Raines should play in the middle & Joel might finally get a chance to play half back & get back to his form from last year. King is to small.

Dean Polo. One of Brad Johnsons strengths is his recovery when the ball hits the deck (that is if he hasn't marked it already). Polo is the closest thing we have to an Indian Rubber man. I think he can go with him better than the others in the air and I'm hoping his recovery in tight is also the best we've got too.

Jake 'The Savage' King for me. At first I thought he was too small as he's listed at 174cm in his player profile. But in the article in HS today, he says he's been jibbed and is more likely 177 or 178 cm. I think Johnson still has a few cms on him, but if he truly is as fierce a competitor as our Coburg reporters are telling us, the height may not be a problem. I also think Brad Johnson struggles a bit when he's harassed.

Couldn't think of a better challenge for the little fella in his first game and I'm sure he'd relish it as well.

No question it has to be Bowden.

Johnson is quite possibly the perfect matchup for Joel.

For once Bowden will have a slight height advantage,

Bowden matches Johnson for reading of the play.

Crucially Johnson plays tall, however so does Joel & can beat Johnson in the air.

Johnson may have the edge in speed, & if excellent quality ball comes this may be the area he can gain an ascendancy.

Would we be happy with results like these tonight, as these are the stats of the last matchup between the pair, importantly also at this ground.

Nice work Leysy, I agree on all counts. The key really is putting pressure on their midfield and running backmen because as you say it won't matter who's on him if he's getting good supply.

Don't we want Joel to play are more attacking role rather than negating it's that reason I think Newman or Polo should play on him. What might stuff this around is if Cross pulls out & Robbins who is on the emergencies list comes in!!

Ideally Chaffy, but he's no longer with us... so I'd settle with Joel again. Might even pay to double team him (with a smaller player like Polo) at the set plays.
