Thanks Phantom. Very comprehensive list. I've read about quite a few of these players on previous posts on PRE. Narrow it down to five maybe? Who's your preference?

My top 3 are Roughead, Franklin & Grundy.

At the draft at this stage, with the picks we have, I've got:
1st Choice
Pick No.1
Centre
Deledio
Tambling
Griffen

2nd Choice
Pick No.4
CHF
Roughead
Franklin
Grundy

3rd Choice
Pick No.20
Ruck
Meesen
Wood
Maric
MLynch
SFoster
Willets
Falovic
Shaw
Mills

4th Choice
Pick No.36
CHF/CHB
CGooley
TMurphy
SHill
Herring
Kirkby
Delmenico
Bate
Barling

5th Choice
Pick No. 52
CHB/FB
Meyer
SGooley
Dunn
Boyd
Carroll
Little
Limbach

6th Choice
Pick No. 68
Rk/CHF/CHB
Lee
Warnock
Hamill
Lucy
Prior
Burley
Stewart
Newton

7th Choice
Pick No. 84
Rover
Eckerman
May
JDSmith
Foss
Ezard
Moore
Dwyer
Coates
Leslie
Davis
McGlynn

8th Choice
Pick No.100
HBF/RR
Collins
Knight
Nayna
Polo
Iacobucci
Wood
Dore
Sharp
Bain
Rosa
Prismall
Twoomey
Gordon

If you get my drift I've broken each pick up into sets of options, based on player type.
Options will be narrowed with time.

I understand your thinking Phantom but I question the logic.  For example would you forgoe a good on-baller/midfielder (eg. Monfries and Eckerman if they were available) at pick 20 and 36 for your fourth/fifth choice ruckman (eg. Lynch or Foster) or your fourth/fifth CHF/CHB (eg. Herring or Kirkby).

I just don't think you can be so structured and inflexible when deciding who to pick, as there will be better players available that might not meet the position you are after.

Or say for example, what would you do if Lewis was available at 20 ?

Wow! I was only after 5 but that's cool. Again very comprehensive. Given I haven't seen any of these guys play I can only go on what other posters have noted. For the top two picks it seems as though Delideo/Tambling as the onballer and Roughhead/Franklin for CHF seem the likely choices. I hope we get these right. It's a salivating prospect getting the cream of the crop. Thanks again Phantom.

Yeah, and if GM can do some good trading for extra draft picks we can get a shot at the rovers and ruckrovers much earlier than pick 84 or 100.
To get Lewis, or Eckermann, or JDSmith we're going to need it.

What I've presented is a logical structure of my thoughts. I am not so inflexible that this is set in stone.
It's only a plan. Plans can be changed.

If we got an extra first round draft pick at say no.8, it mightn't go to a ruckman. It may go to a Lewis, Monfries or whoever.
You can only deal with opportunities as they come up.

simple logic says that for the top 10, you pick the best player is available. after the top 10 you pick the type of player you need to fill the holes on the list... mind you, we have plenty of holes

Phanto like your list but feel we need a midfielder with the 4th pick,we dont have to get all the kpp this year, its going to be at least 3 years to build so we will have 2 more good draft years.

See your point TF but remember that kpps take longer than runners to develop. Runners take 2-3 years to develop. Ruckmen and kpps can take 4-6 years to develop.
There are exceptions.
But we did have a good dip at runners last year with Hartigan, Raines, Roach, Tuck, Foley & Gilmour.
On our list we have 10 players between 180-184,
and 11 players between 185-189.
We probably will pick the best midfielder at pick no.1
If we miss on picking the best CHF at no.4, we may not get another chance until pick no.20, by that stage the best ones will be all gone.

I agree with the 4 pick, but who Roughead or Franklin who would win 1 on 1.

We'll see who is available at pick4. Hawthorn & Footscray get a go between our picks 1 & 4, and I know that Hawthorn are chasing a young CHF.
I haven't seen enough of Franklin yet to judge. But maybe one of them may have gone by pick4 anyway.
Who knows, they might both be gone by pick4!

Based on the rumours so far...

Richmond like Griffen

Hawthorn want a CHF - Franklin (or Roughead)

Bulldogs - ultra keen on Tambling

Draft could go:
1. Griffen
2. Franklin
3. Tambling
4. ????

Is it possible that Deledio will still be there for us to pick at No.4????

Phantom, if he was there at pick 4, would you still maintain that we should get a kpp and go for Roughead?? Is Deledio a kpp?

Griffen, deledio Tambling, franklin....

whatever happens we are the only club to get 2 of these elite kids. And a gun in the pre-season draft.

this year we reduce the gap between us and our enemies

I think you know my answer.
Re Deledio a kpp. Not now. In the future? Who knows. I just finished reading an article in the Hun about the Port recruiting manager. He said that when he saw Tredrea as a junior he only saw a wingman. The CHF came after he was recruited. Great article, recommend you all read it.

Michael Roach, like Tredrea was a scrawny wingman at 18. Something about Deledio suggests to me that he ain't finished growing. Could be a CHB or #3 forward in the making.
BTW I was quite taken with JD Smith in the first National game. There was another kid ther not getting a kick. Deledio looked lost. 2nd or 3rd quarter at a stoppage JDS had just acquired the football at ground level. Deledio went into the pack at about the same time, sat JDS on his rump, took the footy off him and charged away. Deledio is a year younger than JDS whom most of us regard as a good stoppage type. A little moment all the scouts would have noticed. BTW Deledio had just figured out one way to break a tag- go throught the traffic and leave your tagger back in the debris. He lifted a lot after this moment and inspite of another heavy tag got 25 disposals and kicked 3.3 in the (2nd?) game.

Yep, good post. I look forward to seeing both JDSmith and Deledio in Tiger colours.

I think the same happened to Chris Grant. Bulldogs recruited him as a winger but by the time he got to the club he had grown a few more inches.

I havn't read this thread but if we don't pick Deledio it will be a big mistake. He is a class above the others. No matter where he plays.

I think clubs do growth projections these days on players (through x-rays I assume) so it is not so hit and miss any more. I know one club had Hartigan, who was at 177cm, projected to grow to 184cm. By the start of this year he had reached 180cm, so maybe a bit more to go for him.

thats actually true daiagoro about hardigan

But I digress

Deledio is firming as the number one by the minute
