If you cant get pumped up for round 1 when you are opening the whole AFL season and its against a traditional rival with the biggest trade in living memory to add some spice to it. Well you may have to check for a pulse.
Win, lose or draw this is what supporters should live for. To win is huge but to lose is very painful for 10 days. Exactly as it should be. Much better than those games of late last year where it felt like for both clubs the result mattered little long term.
I wish Richmond luck for the game and hope for a good fair contest with plenty of physical clashes and no injuries on either side.
I wont be around after the game to post. I might write something in the following week if I have time. But most likely not. so anyone looking to rub my nose in it will have to wait a few days. Dont worry i will be back win lose or draw to cop my whack if its appropriate. A Carlton win I know will send PRE into freefall for a few days so I urge people to stay calm and not start a sack Miller/Wallace campaign.
Geelong, Hawthorn, Roos, Adelaide all lost round 1 last year. I know it seems like a huge deal at the time but often round 1 throws up a number of surprises and a few clubs just dont gel for a while and "freeze" the first time they go out for real.
Joining the dots from last year to the round 1 result is easy and seems logical but often its a lot better to wait for a much larger sample data before delisting 75% of the list and the entire match committee off the back of an "outrider" in statistical terms
