PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

The most dissapointing thing about watching the game for me yesterday (and I know its just a glorified practice match but its a worrying trend regardless) is how soft the majority of our players are. I am convinced that opposition coaches know that when playing us their players can take ours on in the knowledge that the tackling and defensive pressure is almost non existant, at times I saw Geelong players take on two of our players and still be able to offload the ball with ease because the Tiger players seem incapable of laying a proper tackle that wraps up the player and the ball.

One thing I thought that TW would install over time (even if we were not as skilled as some sides) was for our players to apply lots of pressure and force the opposition into mistakes by our ability to hit hard and tackle with aggression, and a desire to wrap the opposition player up. Sadly at this stage we have shown no improvement since the Frawley days and we are destined to remain near the bottom of the ladder until we improve out of sight on current form.

Anyone got any ideas how we can improve in this area (and in a hurry!) Does it come down to the type of players we draft or is it not pushed enough by the coaches to the players when they enter the club?
