why are you a tiger?

Always have been and always will be. Wouldn't have it any other way either. I know both my father and grandfather were Tiger supporters, so it's in me blood.

That said, it's the closest thing to supporting England that you can get! Perhaps I have a tiger predisposition then, what with me being half a Brit and all. 1980 = 1966 lol.

My earliest memory of the Tigers is crying in the garage at home when Sydney managed to kick two goals against us in the last few minutes of a game once back in 96 I think, but the pain goes away whenever I whack on the 'Tiger Tale' video of season 95, and all the old Premiership vids.

Oh and the song, lol. What an identity. There's something very special about this club...

I was born into being a Tigers supporter - there was no way I was going to support any other team.

The thing that stands out the most about our club is the passion.

No other club compares in this regard.

While the support of the RFC was family based/inspired to begin with, I believe the following are the reasons that I love this club:
- Best Colours (Yellow and Black)
- Best Jumper
- Best Song
- Best Emblem (What can beat a tiger - see last Friday's great pics in the Herald-Sun).
- Great and Rich History/Tradition
- Passionate supporters that really care (even darksiders!!) - who else could have 30,000 supporters and countless other barrackers for a club that has been so unsuccessful for 25 years+. We believe that football and more particularly our club are important in the greater scheme of things.
- 10 premierships including the chance to see 1980 and see Roach, Raines, Bartlett, Lee, Weightman, Wiley, Cloke, Bourke etc tear the hearts out of the black and white.
- Great and passionate players to follow like Richo - how would we have survived the dark time since 1993 without him?
- The belief that we will again get better and become the force that we should be within the AFL.

Absolutely right. Might be born into it, but if I ever had a choice in the matter it'd be the Tiges for these exact reasons.

Well it all started with my dad brain washing all us kids many many years ago including most of the relatives's i might add....

I was initially an unwilling tiger fan. I was dragged along as a five year old to Punt Road oval and spent most of my time to my father's dismay playing in the dirt with the play blocked out by a small hill near the gate. My father having grown up in Richmond was a Richmond supporter who hoped his only son would play for Richmond. Fat chance! My mother was an Essendon supporter but there was never a chance that I would barrack for them.

Things looked up when my sister started dating a Richmond footballer. Fired with enthusiasm I became a regular attender-football fanatic. Joined the cheer squad. Skipped school to buy 1967 Final stickets and screamed a great deal on the day of the GF. I can still see Freddy Swit's mark that saved the day for Richmond.

Always had RFC footballers coming through the house.

Now I am just addicted to PRE.

By the way my auntie dated Richmond footballer in the 1920s but I can't remember his name.
