Why cant Richo ever kick the crucial goal?

Absolutely RIDICULOUS thread. Richo was unbelievable the ENTIRE game. He is our only reliable target up forward, and will ALWAYS at least provide a contest.

I know the shot you are talking about and it certainly was not a gimme (it was about 40 metres out on a 45 degree angle). Give the guy a break. He played his absolute heart out all game. If more of our guys played with even half of the passion that Richo does, we would easily be a 50% better side.

I simply do not understand the idiots that bag Richo. the guy bleeds yellow and black. Your a disgrace.

Richo's issue is just like others who have problems close to goal. He doesnt kick through the ball. Its psychological. it'd be very interesting to know what his percentage of goals are outside 50 in comparison to other players. Id guess he'd come up pretty well.

Why then doesnt he just kick from 45-50 metres out no matter where he marks the ball? It would be very unorthodox but would yield him better results (saying all this he had a great improvement last year).

That's more the distance and angle I remember it as too rather than 30 out directly in front. Richo's run up was closer to the boundary than the middle and he was outside 50.

I have seen this so many times....Richo 30 meters out directly in front, game in the balance and guess what, the same result.....Why does he always miss the crucial easy goals? frustrating!!!

richo is the best player we have had in 15 years, and again was in our top 3 today
he got us going in the third quarter
and i have seen him kick a lot of cruical goals

Doubt it mattered much as our players had very little in the tank at that point.

Richo's kicking has been the same for 17 years now - long enough for everyone to realise that he's pretty much a 50/50 proposition from anywhere.

Pavlich missed several game-deciders last year but Freo supporters didn't harp on it as he's got plenty of points in the bank. Bad kicking shouldn't be condoned but you have to get the ball to have a shot in the first place, and Richo's still our best bet to win contested ball in the forward 50 after all these years.

he did once. Against Essendon two years ago, took a mark, 50 out on the boundary, lat quarter, slotted it from 50 i nthe dying minute to put us in front. That is a clutch goal. Unfortunately, we all remmeber what the umpire did to him that night. Even with a busted checkbone he got no sympathy.

He is a champ.

Not sure which goal you're referring to strang but if it's the one I'm thinking of Richo would have been absolutely stuffed. His legs were probably like jelly. The bloke ran his heart out all game. He wasn't 30 out directly in front for the one I'm thinking about though. I don't think I've ever seen Richo try harder than he did today and will be surprised if he doesn't get 3 votes in a losing team on Brownlow night.

The muppets on 3L0 (ABC 774 for you youngsters) gave him 3. Good on ya Richo!

Agree with a lot of your posts Goody but not this one. For all the boxes that Richo ticks and there are plenty, he's not a skipper. He still sprays his teammates, and whilst not anything like his younger years, you can't have a Captain doing those things IMO.

i havent seen him spray anyone for a while. At least, not the way he used to, if at all.
