3 years Wallace has had & in all that time a handful of genuinely tough, searching decisions at the selection table have been made.
The selection committee regularly continues to pick the same guys over and over regardless of their performance.

Barely any of the central core of this pathetic Richmond side have been punished at the selection table over the 60 games Wallace has overseen.
The only really tough calls Wallace has were this year. Those were on Gaspar, Tivendale & Krakouer.
Most of those were only made once long after it was abundantly obvious to almost everybody that they weren't up to it.

Unfortunately more often than not it seems it's the youngsters or fringe players who feel Terry's wrath.
He pussyfoots around the tough selection decisions and has for most of his tenure.

There had better be some genuine changes made to this underachieving football side at seasons end because I for one am sick to the guts of watching Wallace shirk the tough issues on senior players on a Wednesday night.

All this week there was talk :spin from Terry about putting pressure on the senior core and who do they drop? Hughes!

Two weeks ago there was talk about making changes('axe') to the side after yet another miserable effort and yet again the changes were minimal.

Why hasn't Johnson been dropped for his inept performances?
Why hasn't Raines or Tuck been dropped for there continual inability to hit targets?
Why hasn't Pettifer spent some time at Coburg after some less than 100% efforts?

Terry the supporters have had enough of this pack of pretenders, you have our permission to make punish the senior guys in this team who continually fail to deliver and make the same mistakes over and over and over again.
Please.

We've had injury problems. Can't get enough VFL games into the few comers we've got: players like Casserley, Connors, Collins, Digger et al. Even Hartigan is at best half fit. It's not costing us games but it hurts our ability to pressure the impostors on the park.

As for dropping Hughes I have no idea why he was ever promoted. I wish we'd play Kingsley in a wheelchair before giving Clean Knees a cheap game. Robbing the pay office.

Apparently Cleve can kick but that's just a theory. Can't get one. Has anybody else noticed that he lurks out to Pettifer territory on the rare occasions when he gets the ball? Makes Pettifer look like Bruce Doull.

The last thing we should do is give the Steamee the impression that his efforts are any where near AFL standard.

The ironic thing is before this year began I thought we finally had pressure coming through on senior positions. :-\

How incredibly wrong I was.

because the kids will get smashed

its easier to replace receivers like hyde/tivendale/howat than it is your hard body's like tuck and johnson

if we had drafted more mature and ready-to-go kids we could see a bit more changes but it didnt happen and we will have to wait

We asked the club to stick to the draft after Nicholls Fleming Sziller A. James Blurton Weller Hilton Biddsicombe Blumfield marsh Fletcher Morrison etc didn't get us anywhere

The foundation of the team is shaky enough without completely destroying it. Unfortunately the young kids need time to develop before they can be relied upon to completely support the whole structure of the team. No matter how dudful you may think our senior players are, to replace them all with young kids who get 1 or 2 touches when put under pressure will make a 157 point loss look like winning the premiership.

And before anyone points to Hawthorn may I suggest that they have a central core of experienced players who are standing tall. Buddy would be sh!t in this Richmond team.

If he dosent swing that axe come seasons end then he deserves to go

Along with half of the underacheiving pathetic useless ect... ect... list

The message at Richmond should be clear

SHIP UP OR ON YA BIKE

Agree ToO....he has been weak. Although i can understand the need to keep senior players out there as our kids look like they have come from a POW camp. But dropping a player like Hughes baffles me....i reckon he has been pretty good this year. He has kicked 8 goals in 7 games... averages 8possies, 3 marks, 1 tackle and a goal a game in his second year playing CHF. In a team that got completely smashed he had 14 touches, 8 marks and 3 goals....I reckon thats a big positive. But the kid needs to play more than 5 or 10 min here and there. CHF at coburg and CHF at AFL level is a hell of a lot different.

Because besides Connors and Edwards, our kids are not good enough. Besides Deledio, the 2004 draft was a total waste and we would have done more in the 2005 draft if we didn't attend.

Sad but true. Besides Deledio and our 2006 draftee debutants this year our drafting has been speculative at best. The term "X-Factor" should be banned from Richmond altogether - we haven't had any since Maurice Rioli.

You can't make changes to a side unless the players coming into the side are better than the ones going out. Unfortunately at this stage our kids are not developed enough to replace our older players in mass. In a perfect world some of them probably shouldn't have had as many senior games as they have had in the short time they have been on an AFL list. Further development playing against men in the VFL would be better for them.

It's easy to criticise our draft selections, but most of the early draft picks we have taken were widely regarded as early draft picks by the experts. If we hadn't have got them, they would have been playing with someone else. Our senior players are just not good enough to carry this inexperience and teach them to play good footy. Their natural skills are taught in junior footy and the role of Terry and his staff is to finish them off.

2004 draft a total waste apart from Deledio?

Polo is a good player.

Tamblings annoying - but it's still to early to write him off.

Pattison is WAY to early to write him off, he is WAY to small to compete in the positions he is asked to fill. He is too short for being a full time ruckman, but if with his size increase his marking imroves, he could be a good pinch hitter. Not a star, but very serviceable.

Luke McGuane - not sure on him - I don't like the way he carries the ball - he looks very awkward...but if he's effective he's effective. Time needed before judging.

Meyer looks done.
Graham was a pinch hitter.
Limbach - gone.

In that year we got Troy Simmonds for nought.

All in all I would say it wasn't a huge success, but it certainly wasnt a waste - we will probably get 4 150 game players from that group.

Outside Deledio who at the moment is the only bonafide player from the 04' nat draft we also got Thursfield in the rookie.
