I've put a lot of thought into this (bout 5 mins) and I rekon that the Roos game is the crunch game.
They are the team that constanstly turn our season and have done so for many years - this is the first time for years that we play them at the G and we must beat them...

if we lose to freo (likely) and win over the hawks and roos (both very winnable), then we are placed for a run into september sitting at 7-5.
We then play the pies in rd 13 and this would be my crunch game. A win over the scum would really set us up. 8-5 and we'd need to win only 4 out of 9 to make the 8.

Do you mean "why does Terry Wallace nominate a Crunch Game at the start of the year?"
Or do you mean "why does everyone here always talk about Crunch Games?"
If it's the latter, see the former. If it's the former, just one of Terry's spins I guess.

All Games from now are Crunch Games as our recent june history is deplorable.
wins against Freo, Dawks, Roos would put us 8-4 going into a match against the PIES.........
We need to keep winning if we want to have september action, simple..... we need games under our belt as our % won't help our chances

Any consideration maybe this week's game against the Dees being the Cadbury Crunchie Game for 2006?
I agree that this week's game should be it, we are playing an inform melbourne on the BIG stage under lights.
