Can someone please tell me why there is such a difference in the success and style of play between coburg and the seniours??????

it always seems to be the case where ours 1's are struggling, but the 2's are flying! The players in coburg wouldnt want to come up when they are coming into a team that lacks skill and heart!

Surely they train together, (some of the boys in the burgers, ), so what is the big difference????

IS it the players or is Andy collins really that much better than wallace??

Tigatam,

Yes, there is a big difference.....can you see Krak getting 38 touches in the seniors?
I think he's only had 38 touches in 6 years or so at Richmond! :hihi

The VFL have a lot of the club's rookies and new draftees, or senior players coming back from injury (or poor form), so the "bodies" are smaller most of the time.

Also, the grounds are a lot more muddy and wet in VFL, so the game isn't so free-flowing.

That's while it takes players like Riewoldt, a few games to come to terms with the speed/pace of AFL, as well as the larger sized bodies of opposition players whacking into him.

well said. thanks! I was just bemused at how the 2's, and the 2's reserves can be going so well and yet the seniours are struggling. But i can see what you mean, the young cubs coming up from the 2's take a wj=hile to settle, but they are the ones that are really trying thier guts out each week.

I haven't seen a Coburg game live all year but I one reason I can think of is that several of our players aren't quite up to AFL for whatever reason but they're very good VFL players. Some are past playing AFL and on their way out and some are just starting out and will be good but aren't ready for AFL yet so Coburg benefits from the state of our list. From reading reports there are some very handy players at Coburg who aren't on our list too.

I don't know about coaching style but it appears Andy has the team playing with confidence, something Terry has said our seniors lack at times, and the players really seem to respect and understand Andy and do what he wants.

Hardly always. Coburg is doing well this year, but they weren't last year. Our younger players now have had more game time and have a better coach than previously.
