PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

Why all the vitriol and anger guys.
Yes we have been waiting a hell of a long time (28 years to be exact).
Yes our game plan and forward structure need to be examined.
Yes we have a few boys in the twilight of their career...bowdon, richo, brown etc
Yes our recruiting a few years ago was woeful (Kingsley, Graham etc)
BUT.....
We finished last in 2007. Did any of you expect a miracle to have occured over the summer???
We have played three games and have one win on the board. in the two losses early matchups and a lack of ball cost us dearly but in niether game did we toss the towell in and both times kept the losing margin to under 50 points.
Not sure but last year i am sure we had a lot of blowouts in the games we performed poorly. this year the boys are sticking to their task and with game time under their belt guys like white, king, thurston, moore, tambling, patto and even the much maligned but silken skilled Lids will improve out of sight. (Yes I know he has been in the system for two years but I think the guy has the potential to be a superstar in tthe Judd mould).
I am angry with Wallace and our gameplan at the moment and until he throws caution to the wind and plays ALL the young guys and encourages them to break the lines through the centre of the ground and take risks we will continue to bomb long to an undermanned forward line .
However he has 18 months left in the job and I do not think three games into a seson with one win and two 40 point losses requires instant action.Lets just see how our performances pan out over the year and then make a judgement.
In other words...I think the Richmond team this year is a better unit than 2007 (hard to go backwards i hear u say) and there are promising signs. Miracles may happen but not overnight guys.
