It's why we live here, because deep down we are one. Kiwi's and Aussies side by side going hard so that our future can have some semblence of safety and prosperity.
My story is rather ironic in that my GGF arrived from Germany, settled in Walhalla, married a 17yo when he was 42, had 2 children - male and female (who both went to NZ in 1907). During the great war my GF was interned on Somes Island in Wgton Harbour (not because he was an Aussie but because he had a German surname) so he couldn't fight with his mates against the Germans!
I'm off to the Blarney Stone this arvo to drink with my Aussie and Kiwi mates, back Royal Discretion and then will come home to hopefully watch the Tiges show some respect to those who have sacrificed all so that we can have a better life. cheers to the Anzac's

Great stuff Walhalla. My Grandfather's brothers both fought at Gallipoli (and survived!). Likewise I hope the Tiges put up a good challenge against the Roos in honour of the ANZACS.

A question to all PRE'ers. I'm sitting here watching the ANZAC Day match between the Bombers & the Pies and respect the tradition of the match, but how come they are the only team which is provided the opportunity to wear the ANZAC emblem? Personally I believe all clubs should wear the emblem in honour of the soldiers who played for the clubs, those soldiers who follow their respective clubs and their families for the ANZAC round. Maybe it's time the AFL considered this.

have a great uncle buried in france and another came back without an arm. my dad and two brothers fought in the second world war my dad got shot in newguinea. hia platoon were on patrol and got lazy and walked into an ambush two got killed and a mate dragged the old man to safety. had to leave him injured but came back and got hjim at nightfall.

the old man does not talk about the war much to this day. he refuses to march but i have his medals and try to walk in his place every yr. also to this day he has little time for human kind prefering the company of his dogs and cat and my mum i sometimes think in that order :hihi. im very fortunate to have both in my life still dad is 89 this dec and mum turns 86 in oct.

have a brother and now ex brother inlaw who both went to vietnam. have to say theres a bit of military history in the family.

im married to a kiwi and yes i take kiwis or think of them as just an extension to us aussies or if you like the other island states though i know they would get their backs up if you said this to them.lived there for awhile and the peoples are basically the same in most things.

oh also walhalla good bet i think it won.
