Wild talk about Jarrad

the simple fact is we cannot afford to hang onto players especially smalls mediums for 5 6 or even 7 yrs for litle return

I'd agree but JON is by no means a "small medium".

He's a skinny, tall, injury-prone, aboriginal teenager showing signs after completely his 2nd pre-season.

He is the same age as Jack Riewoldt and only 1-2cms shorter.

If he hasn't done anything after his 4th year then I'd agree with most of what you're saying, but a little perspective gives me patience when it comes to JON.

benny we have had this before. hes 188cm and 82kg hes a tall MEDIUM running player he will never be a kpp. I think all would agree he has done nothing to this point he may play the drean time game that imo would be a bit of tokenism. with out doubt he will spend most of this yr at coburg. thats 3 yrs for a handful of games not established with big questions still being asked about him. mor than likely it will take us 6yrs to get him to 50 games even longer at the rate he is going this is just plain unacceptable.

He might be due long service leave by the time he gets to 50 games at this rate.
I hope he can improve very quickly

I'll just say this about Player JON.

I'm recovering surprisingly well from his performances in 2007.

The disposal/decision making was unbelievably bad, and incredibly frustrating given that he could win the ball pretty well.

In response to this I gouged out my eyes, smashed my head into concreate, and attempted to tear my own head off.

This year the worst aspects of his game have improved to a "not bad" level and violence against my own person has not been necessary.

Dunno if he can go on with it, but based on the three games I've seen, he's improved.

I'd keep JON and Casserley for that matter unless we can find a good trade. I'd go JON for Warnock in a straight trade.

Or even David Mundy for that matter.

I know that, I am saying that having a growth spurt and reaching 188-190cm (nobody seems to know for sure) the club would not expect him to come on as quickly as a 180cm medium.

This time last year Tambling was playing for Coburg, Matt White appeared to have no future as did Schulz, Moore and Jake King was at Coburg as a rookie.

There is no reason why JON can't come into the seniors next week and cement a spot. Or it could be Round 1, 2009 where he never looks back after his 2nd pre-season.

2 and a half years is not enough time to judge, we knew this when we drafted him. But he does need to show signs in the seniors this year and keep playing well when he's at Coburg.

The kicking has definitely improved so that's a start.

I'd add to the Cotch.

Dan Connors got a dream run for a while, no matter how unfit and undisciplined he was even the serial pessimists would be calling for his selection, but honeymoon is over on that one too.

the herald sun lists JON (arm) as 'available' today. Anyone know the story? I thought he was out for 6-8 with a break?

Don't know where that came from.

Was always going to be a week or two. Was only in plaster for 3 or 4 days. Obviously a small fracture.

On radio GM mentioned it was a very minor break. Although 1 week off seems very quick. A Malceski treatment perhaps!

Only problem is that even Freo will not part with a first round pick for JON, because that is the inflated price they will get for Warnock IMO.

I would keep JON the side is now on the improve & it was obvious that he was way undersized & very green when drafted he has know put on some size & is playing good footy at VFL level his skills have improved & he puts his body on the line could still be the X factor for us he is only 20.
